How close?

How close are we getting to a full release of 0.15b and/or the infamous 1.0?

For 0.15b <- I dunno...

As for 1.0, at the current rate (est. on average one and a half months each release (Correct me if this is to far off)), and adding .01 each update, 11years? O_o

Version 0.15 may be released in the end of this month if unicode strings are added and the Win API headers are finished (a quite long and boring process).

Version 1.0? It may take years, but obviously the 0.01 version increase on each release doesn't have to be strictly followed. Instead of say v0.30 we could jump to v0.80, for example. That depends on the features missing (OO, new platforms, high-level optimizations), the stability, full docs, etc, that need to be added..

I figured you didn't have to follow it like that, but I was going by current rate of release.. ;)

Years? That's fine by me. An excellent job is being done here. I really hope this never ends. :)

Something I think so highly of, is absolutely something I'd like to be a part of. If I was a more skilled programmer, I would certainly offer to help with FreeBasic, but I'm afraid i'm just a noob.

Regards.

Noob is a dumb word. Programming is one of those things that gets better with practice, it isn't some kind of contest. I'm a "noob" on some relative scale, and so is everyone else here :)

That was the first time i posted about it in a message board, the first public release only came ~1 month later (dec 1st). At that stage FB wasn't able to compile itself, VBDOS had yet to be used to build it, not good memories, heh..

When the aniversary of the first public release arrives in december 1, FB will be amongst the 999 most downloaded projects (of 49000) in sourceforge. Not so bad in one year...

If that GCC backend becomes a reality we will be able to program in FB our bread toaster, even the toilet paper holder!
