Eric: The Mysterious Stranger - RTS game(WIP)
Re: Eric: The Mysterious Stranger - RTS game(WIP)
Attacking animation in an isometric view.
Edit: Strange, it's not playing at the speed it plays on my pc.
Re: Eric: The Mysterious Stranger - RTS game(WIP)
animated gifs have the ability to set the animation speed... there is a default speed as well... it should play the same in browser, but not in FB since you control the speed there...Boromir wrote:

Yes, that's why it's strange. Linux image viewer plays it decently but chrome and firefox play it really slow.leopardpm wrote:animated gifs have the ability to set the animation speed... there is a default speed as well... it should play the same in browser, but not in FB since you control the speed there...
Re: Eric: The Mysterious Stranger - RTS game(WIP)
i would say that when I view it (firefox), it is slow as well
just opened it up... I think there are too many frames! wow!
here is side by side at different gif speeds:
the 3rd one down moves the fastest for me... it had same number of frames but I set speed to 1
the first is: frames same, speed 10
the second one is: frames same, speed 0
the fourth one is: frames -30%, speed 10

I'm using gimp to save it and no matter what speed I set Firefox always plays it the same slow speed.leopardpm wrote:i would say that when I view it (firefox), it is slow as well

It doesn't look like an attacking animation of a bear more one nodding in subservience :)
So where do you get your 3D models? Do you have to move the rigging yourself?

I tried to post some new viking sprites but the 403 error will not let me do it.

It's inspired by how the animals attack in Age of empires. It would look better playing faster. :)BasicCoder2 wrote:It doesn't look like an attacking animation of a bear more one nodding in subservience :)
I modelled and rigged the bear from scratch in blender.BasicCoder2 wrote:So where do you get your 3D models? Do you have to move the rigging yourself?
Re: Eric: The Mysterious Stranger - RTS game(WIP)
That should play faster.
Here is another angle.
Re: Eric: The Mysterious Stranger - RTS game(WIP)
I can't get this walk cycle right.
Edit: Getting better but not satisfactory yet.

lol! looks not too bad, but he is plopping down his left foreleg really hard compared to the others... looks like he is trying to walk to a 'beat'...Boromir wrote:Edit: Getting better but not satisfactory yet.
Re: Eric: The Mysterious Stranger - RTS game(WIP)
Thanks, I tried to fix that in this one.leopardpm wrote:lol! looks not too bad, but he is plopping down his left foreleg really hard compared to the others... looks like he is trying to walk to a 'beat'...
Still looks a little strange. Maybe, something wrong with the back leg.
Re: Eric: The Mysterious Stranger - RTS game(WIP)
i think looks pretty good... not perfect, but pretty darned good!
Re: Eric: The Mysterious Stranger - RTS game(WIP)
Thanks! made a quick demo with wasd controls to see him going.leopardpm wrote:i think looks pretty good... not perfect, but pretty darned good!

Re: Eric: The Mysterious Stranger - RTS game(WIP)
lol! fun! on the diagonals he seems to be 'sliding' alot, and same with the horizontal movement, except on the horizontal it also looks like his rear left leg is 'pushing off' like one might do while riding a skateboard... but these are things not in need of fixing necessarily... i fear one could spend a lifetime refining an animation.... diminishing returns et al...Boromir wrote:Thanks! made a quick demo with wasd controls to see him going.leopardpm wrote:i think looks pretty good... not perfect, but pretty darned good!

So do you adjust the rigging using a side view?
If you look at some of the walking bear examples on the internet you should see how the joint angles change with time.
Still getting 403 forbidden. Access to this resource on the server is denied. So it appears I will no longer be able to copy past any code to the forum.
