The new website

Post by dkl »

...is coming along, for real. Thanks to sir_mud, who has offered to work on the new site, and has done so since about a few weeks ago, when v1ctor installed Drupal. From what I heard, v1ctor is hoping to be able to properly install the new site over the weekend. And they're working on setting up a new forum too, which isn't yet sure to work out though.

For now, the new site is here: http://freebasic.net/drop/

I don't know how much it's different to the original plan of going with Joomla, but it sure is nicer and easier to manage than the old site. sir_mud implemented this very clear and clean design, which I personally really like. And holy smokes, it has a new FB logo with cool slogans under it (who can figure out how often they change?), and a gallery with screenshots, and non-outdated download links.

So let's see where this goes!

Shades of grey are a bit dull IMHO, but the website itself sure is a lot clearer.

Good job, I like the grey! And the horse is looking more dynamic.

The contact form may be used for
  • feature requests
    bug reports
as well.

I tried to log in but it didn't know my password.

Log ins aren't transferred over yet, won't be until the forum integration is ready.

I've tried to ensure there is sufficient spacing so it's not just a sea of text, it should flow like a river :p This will be taking over the main page @ freebasic.net so no links need to be added/changed at the wiki page.

Is the archive going to survive? Might be interesting to make this more accessible, and encourage people to upload stuff.

The new site is online! Thanks sir_mud for all the hard work.

We will try to migrate the forums this weekend.

The wiki will still the same, and the archive probably won't be migrated. If we add a archive module, the files will have to be re-uploaded, sorry.

Good work!

I've noticed that the forum banner links to http://www.freebasic.net/index.php which doen't exist anymore. It shouldn't be an issue after migrating the forum but for now it could confuse people.

Added an alias so index.php loads the main page.

The new webside looks nice. Unfortunatly the symbol in the Tab bar (the row in which you can switch between the opened sides) is missing. I'm sure you can fix that.

Any standards compliant browser displays the favicon correctly, perhaps you need to upgrade your browser?
