Arm powered PC the size of a usb stick , powered by ubunti.
plug your kb/mouse in one end and your monitor in the other , was demoed on the BBC's Click program
price ? 50 quid
Its still in development but they want to introduce it to schools so pupils can have a simple old school computer to learn to program on.
At that size, and that price , being able to use stock kb/mouse and monitor i think id bag me a couple
Although modern mobile phones and tablets are mini pc's they are not set up to for diy computer enthusiast. Id love to have a stripped down pc with x,y,z ports that was made accessible as for general use/hobbyist market
just though id give this a mention

Provisional specification
700MHz ARM11
256MB of SDRAM
OpenGL ES 2.0
1080p30 H.264 high-profile decode
Composite and HDMI video output
USB 2.0
SD/MMC/SDIO memory card slot
General-purpose I/O
Open software (Ubuntu, Iceweasel, KOffice, Python)
I've a Seagate Go Flex net running with a customized firmware.
They are 1.2GHz Armv5 (Marvell) have one USB slot, two 2.5" sata slots, cost about Eur 60 but come with powersupply
(if it gets cheap you have to factor in if the powersupply is included :)
It works (with kernel 2.6.38), but I haven't been able to boot from Sata yet , so I'm still booting from usb stick.

a computer
a computer roughly the size and shape of a mobile phone would be cool
with a bunch of usb input/output ports & a monitor output ( even better if it had a screen but then it would cost twice the price )
a proper tiny computer , not another device hijacked or hacked, that's what we would realy need
for now a net book is the closest thing, throw away the screen and keyboard then fold what remains in half and you almost there ...phone shaped computer that fits in yer pocket
did the space cube ever get of the ground ?

windows 8 planned to be dual hardware compatible...run on arm as well as pc. One OS to bind them all

its realy crap having two OS , Android and M$ . You want 1 OS that talks to all your hardware. 'Computing' realy needs a complete overhaul...ill prolly be in my 70s before we see seamless integration across all the computing devices i will own.
Each current computing device you can buy today either suffers from bloat , crap u dont want. or is crippled by not having full power features you do want.
On the plus today's smart phones and today's laptops DO actually have the core functionality that's most needed, most of the time.
My Time to die list = satnav , handheld consoles , glorified mp4 players & car stereos

Less experienced people might want to check out this:

be careful with systems with DVI connectors. Afaik sometimes they are digital-only DVI, which precludes many old monitors and DVI->VGA shenigans.
