Re: A Question...

Is it hard to read the word "VISG" for English-speaking person?

I've just thought that it may be complicated word, because there is no (a|e|u|i|o) letters between "S" and "G".

Am I right?
Why not concentrate on building a GUI builder for freebasic then simply call it Visual FreeBASIC.

vsig

Post by hellfish »

hmm...

im running vista..dont know if thats the problem

but vsig is unusable for me as every menu has these strange unreadable characters

example the firs menu on the right of the top window is this :ôàéà
and that is plain unreadable to me (>.<)

for the rest i did some googling for screens and the program realy seams good if ur text is readable that is

Change the program language in the fourth menu (you will see "English" over there). I forgot to change the default language to English when released visg.

I found this software (visg) at softpedia.com softpedia.com guarantees that visg is spyware/adware/virus - free. At softpedia.com visg is listed as freeware and that is not quite the same as gpl.

Visg looks nice, I am sure it is a good IDE but why should I help someone develop software only to find out one day that he is selling his software with a commercial license (some sort of Microsoft(ish) license)?

to AGS:

I consider visg + GPL v3 right now.

A few thoughts on AGS's comments:

If it's good, why mrhx can't sell it?
With real income mrhx can develop further and made this software better.

Old versions can still be free, using freeware is under the as-is basis and should be grateful to author, and thanks his contribution.

I think, if Visg has become paid software, then I would pay testers and other useful people by giving them this software for free. But I can't imagine Visg as paid software in near future.

Typically Beta Testers get one free license and acess to new testing versions to help development, that makes sense tho.

Anyway VISG is a great tool to help GUI development, and thanks mrhx.

A question about new name of the program

Post by mrhx »

Hi, all!

I want to continue developing Visg as an open source project.
And I also want to rename it, so I have a question to the english-speaking persons: what do you think about the word "codge"? It's a short name from "code generator". Do you have any negative associations?

Thanks!

codge - Is that pronuounced Ka-dja?

Sounds too much like hodge podge.

Actually now that I looked up a definintion for podge, maybe you should call it that! :-) http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=podge
