KwikBASIC is very close to FreeBASIC. You could just use FBEdit. I never developed a separate IDE. Why did I abandon KwikBASIC? One reason...Time! If I want to be able to do other projects I can't support this one any more. I released the source to the community so if someone found it useful perhaps they will have time to support it.
