I understand.

I must be too old and missed it.

Which project exactly?

Which project exactly?

The new "FreeBASIC Compiler" project that is being discussed.

As I understand it, the devs agree that a new site is needed for this project so it doesn't interrupt the ongoing efforts with classic FreeBASIC.

If your referring to the Under Construction graphic I use for all the sites I setup till the client can upload their content, I missed the humor.

It does have a nice 3D effect though.

Someone I know online posted a "beta" version of Pokemon Platinum on one of those ROM-sharing sites before the game was officially released...it ended up being a rickroll using the video codec I designed for the DS. I felt so proud. :)

Anyways, I had a feeling this day would come but I'm surprised it took so long to get here.

I made my contribution to the new compiler project.

I haven't heard a thing from any of the developers about the new site so I guess it wasn't needed. I'll leave the site active for awhile with the hope my efforts weren't a waste of time.

Not everything is accomplished in a day...or a week...or a month...or even a year. Patience is a virtue. People have lives outside of the internet, and sometimes real life issues have to take priority no matter how long it takes.

John Spikowski - given your track record on this site you may be waiting a while for a response. It takes time to heal the wounds of the past. I imagine that many question your motives.

Motive:

I have been a Basic programmer for 30 years and have made a living at it. Every time I turn around someone is saying Basic is dead and don't waste your time using it. I keep waiting for the funeral but instead new variations of the language keeps showing up improving on what has come before it.

I now spend most of my time doing business related web sites. I use the ScriptBasic web server for my custom dynamic web applications and interface with feature rich PHP open source applications when possible.

The only track record I'm aware of is the success of the Basic related sites I manage with my free time and resources. I make nothing from these contributions other then the satisfaction of being part of something that I deeply care about.

I just received an e-mail from Matthew (counting-pine) that he wouldn't be a good candidate to be the admin for the site. cha0s would be a better choice as he is a web developer but I understand he may already have a site that he is already working on for the project. (not verified)

I'll go ahead and shutdown the www.freebasic-compiler.org site. I'm pretty busy with ScriptBasic and BCX at the moment and don't have anything left to give.

cha0s,

If you like the www.FreeBASIC-Compiler.org URL and want to use it for your new project, I would be happy to point the DNS to your server of choice.

GoDaddy has a 60 day minimal ownership rule before I would be able to transfer ownership to you.
