Re: "A Love Letter To FreeBASIC" Game Dev Competition (Oct 2018 – Feb 2019), 1000 $ 1st prize

Pitto, reached level 5, got canned. Still having trouble with platforming, more than fighting enemies. Feels too fast in combination with such slippery platform edges. I'm just too much anxious while playing for the wrong reasons, IMO. But nevertheless, at least until level 5, and including level 5,...

Hi all, I've update the repository (0.5.5): * improved smoothness in Win - now the physics is updated at a fixed timestep (1/55 sec.) * added editor I haven't yet tested these changes in Linux @Lalchie Along the developing process I did think about an intro more elaborate, cutscenes, other player a...

Re: "A Love Letter To FreeBASIC" Game Dev Competition (Oct 2018 – Feb 2019), 1000 $ 1st prize

Pitto, btw, if your game doesn't feature and friendly NPCs, I really think you should add then. One or two characters during the course of the game, short dialogues. Just to flesh out the setting even more. It's just, the background as it is, feels very elaborate, but exactly becuase of that, it cou...

Re: "A Love Letter To FreeBASIC" Game Dev Competition (Oct 2018 – Feb 2019), 1000 $ 1st prize

I've played the precompiled tar version. Perhaps it ran tad faster. I'm not saying that jumping should be effected by holding the jump key. Maybe it should just be a tad slower, including minimum acceleration, deacceleration. Same for starting to move left/right. I might be wrong, dunno, but worth m...

machaal, that's a really solid effort for something done in such short time. The gameplay also feels nice. I only wish you would allow the user to customize the controls, or add more alternative keys, the classic arrow keys as well. The current one is really cumbersome to use. Pitto, that's an aweso...

Damn, I was away from my computer this weekend, will be able to try new releases later tomorrow, after work.

Eager to try all.

Those late starters, I remind you, we will have a second round lasting until 18th of March.

Also, round one goes for one more week, until 11th.

Change the resolution and switch to windowed mode in the ini file. Happened to me as well. Same for customizing your control keys.

Re: "A Love Letter To FreeBASIC" Game Dev Competition (Oct 2018 – Feb 2019), 1000 $ 1st prize

Ok, it's decided! It's sort of a super compromise solution. :) Since 3 separate persons said one week will help a lot, I will extend the first round deadline for ONE MORE week, ending on 11th of February . We will also organize a second round for all late arrivals and those who had unplanned delays....
