Re: Open syntax -> what is the function result type?
0 and non-0 is meaningful, the good choice should be boolean ... but for simplicity. Two remarks here: other people might want: the exact reason of failure! what about: backwards compatibility (older Compiler Versions don't have Booleans)? I personally don't like Integer (dynamic Type), I want to k...

This has to be done "by Hand", since the DIR only stores Info of Files (SubDir's and "real" Files),Tourist Trap wrote:for a directory, this doesn't return the size of the subdirectory content

Re: Two Optimization Questions: Pixel Depth & Variable Types
-lang QB is for me not an Option, but a "go back" to Stone Age ... I'm using -lang FB exclusively, there is no apparent reason to use anything else. is using 32bit integers faster than 64bit integers in math operations? Don't know for certain, depends on circumstances I suppose. Speed test...

Re: Two Optimization Questions: Pixel Depth & Variable Types
AFAIK, 16 bit's Color support is weaker on FB, than 8, 24, 32 ...
At the CPU speed/GB's of memory of today's PC's, I'm only using 32 bit's for Color!
One would have to use Bitfields on 16 bit's, if I'm not mistaken (to much worry!).

Re: Two Optimization Questions: Pixel Depth & Variable Types
As far as I can remember, only integers are the most efficent. This seems to be due to the fact that this is the true memory format . An integer is exactly the size of a true memory unit. In 32 bits hardware, integers are 32 bits. In 64 bits machines they are 64 bits. So it's easy to understand tha...

Re: Grid of editboxes using Windows API
@Lothar Schirm, since you've asked, the compile options I'm using for debugging: fbc -s [console | gui] -exx -w pedantic "sourcefile.bas" I agree with fxm: trying to debug code without explicit ByRef / ByVal, is a pain in the backside. This is especially true when it concerns Libraries ......

Re: Grid of editboxes using Windows API
@RNBW, as I've written, I didn't look at all your code, just concentrating on the described Array-Bounds Problem. The copy Routine seems to be OK, because it copies NOTHING if there is NOTHING and otherwise, just takes what's there ... On WinGUI.bas: at present, very badly written for "DEBUGGIN...
