Re: Best Distro for FB

While trying and seeking around, I noticed that in recent years Manjaro climbed the distrowatch list real quick and is now at the top by leaps and bounds. Last time I checked it showed around 4000 HPD. This is interesting because Mint used to top the ranking for years. Remember, the distrowatch ran...

Re: Semi-automatic generation of FB program from glade 2 files

Hi TJF, i have seen your name many times in threads about gtk. You seem to be one with deeper understanding of gtk together with FB. Yes, i have researched some time about gtk and tried your GladeToBac. But afaik only few of base elements like clist, vbox and hbox are deprecated, so you cant say who...

Re: Semi-automatic generation of FB program from glade 2 files

On Win (or Linux) even a complete manual conversion from glade 2 C files to FB is not quite difficult. Much can be done with search/replace. In case of the above example its mainly 4 steps: Including header in c #include <gtk/gtk.h> becomes in FB #include once "gtk/gtk.bi" Alll other "...

Semi-automatic generation of FB program from glade 2 files

Here i want to describe a procedure of semi-automatic generation of gtk-gui-forms from glade 2 to FB. To keep things short: 1. Find and install glade 2 (not 3, because the code generation was stopped there) in Windows (10 or whatever). 2. Design your form in glade 2. In Options choose a folder on us...

TurtleProgrammer wrote:Is there a way to convert say: 1.019 to 1.0 and store the result in a variable? I found PRINT USING, but of course that prints to the screen which I don't want to do.

Code: Select all

dim as single x = 1.019, i
i = fix(x)
'print i
That should be exactly what you want.

install_libs.sh for FB and more

This script installs many libs needed for FB examples and others on Mint and Ubuntu.. Just make it executable and run with "./install_libs.sh". Tested on Mint Cinnamon 18.2. #!/bin/sh # install_libs.sh # installs many libs needed for FreeBasic 1.05 examples # under Mint 18.3 or other linux...

Re: Regular expressions

On Linux Mint the libs often are much easier to find. Just do

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install libtre-dev
I have posted a script for many libs in the linux forum.
