Re: Sound output?

Hi Achaean! If you want to play simply BEEP through the speaker, then in the help there is an example of sound output through the port: http://www.freebasic.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=KeyPgOut Run this example with ROOT in linux or with administrator privileges in Windows. If you want to play WAV on L...

Re: What to do about a lack of developers for the compiler?

Guys, you're asking the wrong questions. The main questions: who is so competent to make changes to the source code of the compiler? There are people who know three languages at once: assembler, C and of course freebasic, as well as well aware of the architecture of windows and Linux? Are there pe...

If anyone can find a way to limit the data transfer to solely clicking the button, I would appreciate it. I would point out, however, that there is no reference to WS_BORDER in the chm help file.

The library is large, I not сould take account all the subtleties in the chm file. In any case, I do not deny anyone an answer to the questions. There are some questions, ask.

Hi enform! I copied the description to sf.net, thanks for the translation. Hi RNBW! You need it? #Include "window9.bi" Dim As Hwnd hwnd Dim As integer event hwnd=OpenWindow("1",300,10,200,100) StringGadget(1,10,10,100,20,"Text",WS_BORDER) Do event=WaitEvent() If event=E...

Re: FBGUI library for windows 2

Hi! Perfect library, but not work in fbc: FreeBASIC Compiler - Version 1.05.0 (01-31-2016), built for win64 (64bit) OS: Windows NT 6.1 (build 7601, Service Pack 1) ? :-( All example compile error: C:\..\FB64\inc\win\strmif.bi(6383) error 58: Illegal specification, at parameter 2 (pDDrawObject) in '...

Re: (SOLVED) Operator ! (Escaped String Literal)

Your two string literals are not of the same type: - the first is a var-len string due to Operator + (string concatenation) between zstring and var-len string(chr(0)): #print typeof("Wave Files" + Chr(0) + "*.wav" +Chr(0)+ "Any Files" + Chr(0)+ "*.*" +Chr(0))...

Re: Play Sound problem (alsa)

If you don't need realtime playback then render a wave file and play it back with aplay . This is from aplay's man page: Recognized sample formats are: S8 U8 S16_LE S16_BE U16_LE U16_BE S24_LE S24_BE U24_LE U24_BE S32_LE S32_BE U32_LE U32_BE FLOAT_LE FLOAT_BE FLOAT64_LE FLOAT64_BE IEC958_SUBFRAME_L...

Re: (SOLVED) Operator ! (Escaped String Literal)

By the way, LEN does not provide the same return information depending on the string type: - for a fix-len zstring or a var-len string: the number of actually used characters is returned. - for a fix-len string: the maximum number of usable characters is returned. But SIZEOF always provides the sam...

Re: Play Sound problem (alsa)

Your sound card is limited to 16 or 24-bit only, so it might be easier to render in 32-bit float, convert to 16-bit signed integer then play the 16-bit data. If you really need to play 32-bit float then take a look at JACK http://www.jackaudio.org/api/ JACK uses 32-bit float exclusively. Thanks, I'...

Re: Play Sound problem (alsa)

Thank you David!

I looked at sdl_mixer. Good library.

I wanted to achieve playback with the help of ALSA because of the fact that ALSA allows you to play "PCM data in IEEE floating-point format".

Re: Play Sound problem (alsa)

You seem to be trying to play an entire wave file in your sound card's buffer! If your sound card's buffer is 1 MiB and you are playing a 48 kHz, 8-bit, mono sample then you will be limited to 1048576 / 48000 / 1 / 1 = 21.845 seconds. You need to switch to something like sdl_mixer instead. Thank yo...

Re: Operator ! (Escaped String Literal)

Thank you Joshy for attention to my question! In general, of course, a few strange features of the compiler's behavior. That's how it works: ..... Dim As OPENFILENAME ofn ofn.lStructSize = Sizeof(OPENFILENAME) ofn.lpstrFilter = Strptr(!"Wave Files\0*.wav\0Any Files\0*.*\0") Here so it work...
