Rather than "waste" CPU time (and coding time) trying to detect what attitude(?) the camera is at, would it be better to use sensors for that purpose? (I'm thinking of the G-Sensors available in all current smartphones, specifically the "Spirit-level" app on my HTC Touch Pro2)

Sorry to hijack this thread... @BasicCoder2, there's a DLL you could try (http://sol.gfxile.net/code.html) called ESCAPI, which interfaces with webcams (and other devices). Tried it quickly with the included PureBasic example and works a treat. I'm sure you could easily knock up an FreeBasic example...
