Re: AI magazine article
Are you going to use FreeBASIC with your Raspberry Pi 2? Yes, I think I will. I hadn't realised that FB worked on Raspberry Pi until I came back to this forum after a long absence---. My project is a mini PLC style thing. I want to be able to control some hardware, read status and analog values bac...

Re: AI magazine article
For really simple stuff, I have used the PicAxe micro with good success. It has an onboard BASIC interpreter so programming is very familiar. Plenty of I/O depending which chip you buy. Really handy to knock up a little system for testing other equipment----essentially replaced the 555 for me----and...

Re: FBC 1.00.0
Congratulations. I'm still lurking every now and then. When I first started with FreeBASIC and this Forum, I used to browse the Forum starting with Beginners, then General, then Tips & Tricks then Community Discussion. Now it is the other way, I start with Community Discussion, then Tips & T...
Re: Squares
Hey Dodicat---just read you have been unwell. Hope everything turns out OK for you. I don't frequent this forum much these days---ever since I bought a yacht! Its hard to get the salt out of the veins once it gets in there. Sailing is more expensive than programming though--every time I go out somet...

WOW, that is pretty cool! The boundary between reality and computer generated graphics is getting narrower. It would be interesting if some of these modified photos were used as evidence in court.

Re: fbcadcam redo
Owen, Thanks for responding. It's friday night in Oz. Nice glass of wine in one hand, Galaxy phone in the other, reading FB Forum CNC is really cool, simple but powerful. I wish I had more time to spend on it. Re lawnmower, from what I have seen so far, they effectively just use a raster scan in mil...

Re: fbcadcam redo
Hello Owen, I used to hang around this forum a while back, and contribute every now and then (in the "squares" thread etc--hello to Richard and Albert and Dodicat et al---I still "lurk", and the hardware area), but I bought a sailboat and rapidly came to realise that sailing was ...

Re: New Computer Options
Well, I bought the new laptop----a Toshiba Satellite P850-02C with i7 processor and W8. It is surely a shock to the system----the young sales guy challenged me to find how to turn it OFF----I had to give up. Even then he had difficulty finding the "slide out from the side under the hovering mou...

Re: New Computer Options
Thanks for moving this to Community Discussion------I realised after I hit the "Submit" button the thread was probably in the wrong place. Yes, I must admit I like the look and feel of XP, and I am familiar with it, and it works fine------but we are pretty much forced to upgrade everything...

New Computer Options
OK, here's the situation. I have been avoiding the obvious for some time, but today I think my hand has been forced. My trusty laptop (Toshiba Satellite with XP) had two BLUE SCREENS OF DEATH in the last two days. I have a boot CD (BartPE) so I have saved my data but even though it did eventually re...

You are indeed a clever old salt.
1032 lines!--how long did that take you to type in (let alone come up with the code in the first place)?

Re: rounded corners
Look at my last post in this thread.

It was to create a fillet in a corner but the same principles apply.

Re: Squares
A man is driving down a country road, when he spots a farmer standing in the middle of a huge field of grass. He pulls the car over to the side of the road and notices that the farmer is just standing there, doing nothing, looking at nothing. The man gets out of the car, walks all the way out to the...

Re: how to search for valid com ports?
You might be able to make use of this code, or parts of it.
http://www.freebasic.net/forum/viewtopi ... en#p153272
If you scan all available ports to see what is happening on each perhaps ????
