It's quite simple...FreeBASIC is a BASIC compiler. The BASIC keyword to remove a file is and always has been KILL.

If you add DEL as a keyword for no reason other than you "don't like KILL", well now you break all the code that uses DEL as a variable somewhere.

What version of VMWare were you looking at? VMWare Player is free and there is no time limit. I use it all the time.
