Re: Freebasic V. Visual basic (general thoughts welcome)

I cant imagine being able to do anything in c++ that i couldnt in FB, umm... how about inheritance? I'm not dissing FB I know the devs are working hard on adding features but as of right now that statement is very very wrong. And yeah, this topic will get moved. And yeah, it would be cool if making...

I agree with marcov. Things like a GUI are a real pain to implement in FB without inheritance. With inheritance, using the GUI example, you'd have a widget base class that has everything that every gui object would need, and for every gui component you made you'd first start by inheriting the base w...

Lachie Dazdarian wrote:Why you need it in a library or class?

Well if it was put into a class it would be easy to insert it into other programs, or even make multiple blobs in the same program. I know you're against this kind of stuff, Lachie, but making the blob it's own object makes it easier for other people to use.

chrome does seem faster than other browsers. I'd like to see someone do some sort of benchmarking.

OOP is the way to go. Why would you not want it? You want a harder to use library?

I found the walking to be too slow. I was waiting impatiently for the character to walk across a room in one cutscene. But this is certainly a nice start. I like the text bubbles a lot.

@Dr D - I had thought about doing that also but was hoping there was a "cleaner" way to do it.

My final decision is to just embrace the lower-left origin so I don't have to deal with any of this.

Thanks for the help though!

OpenGL texture question

How do I "flip" a texture over along the y-axis? Using glScalef(1.0, -1.0, 1.0) on the texture matrix works, but now every texture will be flipped, which I do not want. How do I manipulate individual textures to get the desired effect? I need to do this because for ortho projections I like to have m...

Well if anyone is up for porting FTGL to FB the demand is there. I think it will help out everyone that uses OpenGL in FB.

Better yet, use FTGL. Someone would have to port the headers and such for Freebasic but it is a great library. I use it all the time when I code in C++. There is a C Version also that FB would have to use since we lack full blown OOP that the C++ wrapper uses, but it's better than having to code you...

Well FBEdit is having some serious issues on my pc. So here's a protoype of a fraction class for now. type Fraction private: '' Numerator and denomenator as integer num_, denom_ public: '' Constructors declare constructor() declare constructor(newNum as integer, newDenom as integer) ...
