Re: delete[] --> broken oop

An IDE solution would be good, but something as simple as isPointer would eliminate the need for different delete syntaxes. With delete/new, your new statement might be 2000 lines from your delete statement --> potential for bugs because visually they are far away and you don't immediately see what ...

delete[] --> broken oop

In line with my train of thought on making Freebasic coding less buggy and more structured, I have to ask: Why do we have to specify delete[] (instead of just delete) for arrays created with new? It leads to buggy code -- there should be a way to remember whether the new used a single object or an a...

Re: Thoughts on deallocating data pointers.

I think that means something like this: Adopt a self imposed rule that an "object" only deletes a resource that it creates. These "objects" don't necessarily have to be formalized in FreeBASIC's object oriented syntax. They may simply be informal groups of routines, but using au...

Thoughts on deallocating data pointers.

Here is a thought on data pointers. When we create pointers in our programs, we can either allocate the memory for them or use them as a quick reference to memory. Example: A school has a list of students, ordered by name. There is also a global list of students, ordered by name. We can implement th...

Re: My "Space RPG" project...

A few items...

1) Full screen mode in Win7 (alt+enter): weird colors/palette for some reason.

2) Instructions should be packed in the zip, not just on your site.

3) Maybe you shouldn't get blown up if just one ship hits you. That's very discouraging.

4) I want mouse controls for everything! :X

Syntax Poll

Mysoft and I have a huge disagreement. We decided to do a poll to decide what to do. http://www.freebasic.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=KeyPgDir : "Do While Len(filename) > 0" -or- "Do While Len(filename)" ? Support for the first option: * It's easier to understand. * The compiler pro...
