The Art of Computer Game Design, by Chris Crawford

I stumbled on this book while looking for free books on the Internet, without really targeting books about game design. http://www.vancouver.wsu.edu/fac/peabody/game-book/Coverpage.html I'm not sure how much it's wide known, so if it is very known and read, forgive my ignorance. Despite the fact it ...

Relax - A canceled project

There is this project I started before Star Cage that got dropped after 2 days. It was a part of the series of dropped projects preceding Star Cage but with this one I went the farthest. I even meant to write an article about these projects entitled "Diaries of a mad game designer" but after few par...

A wonderful news! I didn't expect for you to release it so soon. You know how I liked the BETA demo. Sadly, I can't download it today from this PC. Pitty. If I could, then I would have full 3 days to play it through(hopefuly). After the next time I'm online I will be relatively busy. Darn.

Star Cage - A top down space shooter

Hello all! I'm not sure if you expected anything but here it is. Another game by me. Star Cage is top down space shooter and can be played in single player or two players split screen mode. I dare to say it's not you everyday shooter since it features "Seek & Destroy" type of engine, although I ...

Zamster, I wanted to send you a request to help me on my project but your email doesn't seem to exists. And I can't PM you here(WHY?).

Anyway, if you can let me know today another way to send you information/files regarding my project, let me know. And no, I can't post this stuff to public.

Wow, Joshy! What a brilliant routine! Especially great for those who have no idea how to code it by themselves, like me. It's in a form of a sub, it's reliable, easy to use and versatile. I tried it in different resolutions and with images of different sizes. It works like a charm. Funny, but I was ...

You could add some documentation because I fail to dump anything decent. What each parameter is and does?

I've released an update. It's the same download. Download VectorX_2006.zip (2762 KB) Download VectorX_2006Lite.zip (no sound version; 880 KB) I've changed the delay routine using the TIMER statement and double precision variables. I got very good results on my PC and on this college PC so I'm hoping...

Framerate control problem.

Can anybody help me with the issue of assuring that my program will run with the same speed on every PC? I was in belief that using SCREENSYNC in every loop ensures that the game will run with the same speed on every PC but after releasing Vector X 2006 I realized I was wrong. VSYNC placed in the Ve...

Uh, why is this happening? Stupid framerate control! VSYNC is not bullet-proof!

I'll have to make an update.

Shoot me.

Sorry for bumping this thread but I got feedback from some people that the game runs with speeds up to 80 FPS on their PCs. So I need you to test framerate of Vector X 2006 on your PC if you don't mind. Just press F while playing the game to turn on the FPS counter. You should get 20 FPS since I'm u...

jofers, I'm not in the qb45.com news! :(

Anyway, thanx for the upload.

Also, I wouldn't mind a comment from someone who actually played the game to the end.

A very handy thing is working on images in 8 bit mode in some 8 bit program like DeluxePaint. I assume you are using 8 bit mode for some specific reason. Then you simply convert your 8 bit images to 24 bit mode(try IrfanView) and set your FB program to 16 bit screen mode. Just load your converted BM...
