Re: Your thoughts on privacy?

Start, control panel, what has your computer been up to / is doing right now with someone else's / and more importantly why !

But if you read Snowden files, when program crashes and you are asked to send info to Msft it does not really send any info about crash, but stealing your private data

Re: What happens next with OOP in FreeBasic and when? :)

Turning FreeBASIC into C++ doesn't make much sense to me why not just use C++ It make sense: you will be able to use more external libs And you dont have to use all that advanced features if you dont like them. For what I am using FB it is more advanced than I will ever need But I would not complai...

Re: What happens next with OOP in FreeBasic and when? :)

@fxm assuming they know FLTK is search term. But there is no reason for them to believe FLTK is a magic word. =============================================================== When you download FB, there is examples\GUI folder with GTK, IUP, WXC, win32 So they will probably search GTK, and waste time ...

Re: What happens next with OOP in FreeBasic and when? :)

FreeBasic needs to be able to address C++ libraries in order to gain access to projects like Qt Yes that is true. But there is already couple GUIs: GTK, IUP, Window9, WXC and FLTK New user will download FB, try examples from it and probably will not work: GTK will report missing libs, IUP will not ...

GFX

I recomended FreeBasic to a young boy 15-16 (he never do any programming before) He learned FOR, DO WHILE, IF SELECT CASE, text files read write, and wrote a program that solve linear system equation. Now he wants to do drawing. I told him GFX: LINE, CIRCLE etc, But I can not find any manual about t...

Re: Where is FB now?

I have seen so many failed projects because they made mistake at first step: choosing right tools They choose C++ which is good tools, but not for simple medium size projects, because you will spend more time and source code is not readable to average programmer. or JAVA, CSHARP -> miserable failure...

Re: Where is FB now?

Indeed I wonder why they would not simply use C++ instead? You dont need Boing747 to go to work. Bus or car is better choice C++ may be better for a team of 10 working on same project, or writing a library 100000 lines of code, but for everyday life FB may be better SIMPLE PROGRAM in C++ #include <...

Re: What happens next with OOP in FreeBasic and when? :)

As for a C++-compatible boolean type, there's at least one problem with that: C++ stores 1/0, FB uses -1/0, how should this work? To be compatible, FB's booleans would have to store 1/0.

What about FB_Boolean and C_Boolean, and you use what you need?

Re: What is wrong with the BASIC language?

the new generation of Delphi compilers (and also the C++Builder compilers) utilize the LLVM architecture. it is worth mentioning that the LLVM architecture is gaining a lot of traction both in the open source tools world and in the proprietary world The idea is to be able to compile Delphi source co...

Re: What is wrong with the BASIC language?

Like hammers and saws, programming languages are just tools that are designed to serve a particular purpose. Yes, Rod, but you must know canadian saying: "When you got a hammer, evrything looks like nail" BASIC as hobby is OK but in business you need at least. C++, PHP, JavaScript and JAV...

Re: What is wrong with the BASIC language?

Nothing is wrong with the BASIC language. FreeBasic is what it is -- and if it's not suitable for the job then a different language can be used. Like hammers and saws, programming languages are just tools that are designed to serve a particular purpose. Rod You nailed it If you can write a compiler...
