Landeel

Okay I found quite a bit about SDL under Libraries, so I will check them out.

Thanks but No thanks for QB64. I like small stand-alone programs not like the one I tried on QB64 and got a 888Kb EXE with about 6.2 MB dependencies. QB4.5 was about 47 Kb and FB about 80 Kb stand-alones.

Joshy Many months ago I said you are my hero because of your FBsound and good advice. I haved always had an inclination to move to Linux, especially Mandriva which found all my hardware when I tried their "live" editions. Ubuntu was a no no. Redhat seems to have taken over servers so I will try it a...

Screen 7 & 13

I tried all day yesterday but the Forum was down. I tried - SetEnviron("fbgfx=GDI") - The only difference is that my background colour Brown changed to Green. (A palette change ?) I am not very clued up since I nowadays only play with programming as a hobby and am only converting my old QB...

Hmm something very fishy. I checked some more and found the same file under a slightly different name which I changed slightly for FB. At that stage, with the changes, it also had the same problems so I gave it up as a bad job. I have a new motherboard and apparently something was updated or the lat...

@Landeel I set FBide as -lang FBlite since this is an old QB4.5 program The first line of the program is now : #include "fbgfx.bi" But as I said it was just for information not to follow up as it is regarded as a dead subject and I doubt if anybody, except me, still plays around with it. This was ju...

@Counting_Pine Okay as I said this was just for those who may still be interested and are still using adapter cards older than and up to about FX5600. So don't worry about it, it is obsolete. My daughters PC has an Nvidia FX8600 and the problem of a tiny SCREEN still exists. The tiny screen is somew...

It is just a tiny screen without any of the other matters mentioned by you. This was a very old problem and I can no longer remember the name of the post, but it was established that only an update or rewrite of the screen handling routines, similar to SDL would have solved the problem. I used DOSBO...

Paint

Inspired by Dodicat in another post this morning, I played around and replaced Paint/Line with a Draw string. A bit much but here it is. #include "fbgfx.bi" DIM as string Box const Blue = RGB(0,0, 255) const Brown = RGB(255, 148, 64) const White = RGB(255, 255, 255)...

Tiny SCREEN 7 and 13

For those who may still be interested. I again tried one of my old programs - SCREEN 7 -and made the following changes: #include "fbgfx.bi" Screen 14, , , GFX_FULLSCREEN SetMouse(,,0) Still the same tiny screen. Then for some reason, maybe it was like George Formby sang those many years ago - a litt...

Bug with DRAW ?

Very Nice, Dodicat. Next time I want a Box I will use your program to set one up and save the string to a file To manually set up a string to draw something does take time. I use graph paper, draw what I want and then set up the string. Quite tedious. If the monitor size and chosen Screen size of th...

Bug with DRAW ?

Thanks again Counting_Pine In the meantime I have been playing with the RGB(xxx, xxx, xxx) and I see it gives me scope for a very large range of colours. The last time I mixed colours was in Standard 6 (Now grade 8) in 1950 which was 61 years ago and then it was paint. And to think that only this year...

Thanks CountingPine I actually tried color 1 to 15 before posting. None of them worked when using 16 or 32 bit. So the question is not really about color 12 (Bright Red) which was just an arbitrary choice for the post. I also tried foreground and background - Color 15,6 - (Bright White on orange/bro...

Bug with DRAW ?

I ran the following program using SCREEN 1,7,8,9,12,13 and it appeared to work okay. Then I tried Screen 14 to 21 and the Zero string was not shown on the Screen in color depth 32, I set the depth to 16 - no joy. Then I set it to 8 and it works fine. (Settings for FBide = "<$file>" <$param> -lang FB...

I have now used -lang FB and ran : PRINT chr(237), chr(146), chr(143) and found that irrespective of which screen I used - and I used from SCREEN 0 to SCREEN 21 when using the ASCII CODE it prints correct on all these SCREENs. When using PRINT "Æ", "Å", "φ" it prints some other incorrect block ...

In -lang FBlite I tried Print chr(146) and it printed Æ i.e it worked fine.
Then I tried print "Æ" and it printed ╞ i.e chr(198)
It thus appears that the characters above chr(128) will only print correctly if the ascii code is used.
