compiling 2 QB *.bas files

Thanks Oz. I hardly ever use the DOS prompt or CLI. To date this year I've used it about twice. Since WIN95 and QB4.5 I get the heebie jeebies when I have to use it. Maybe it was because in DOS I had to use it so much and then found something easier. Later in DOS I started using an autoexec.bat at s...

I changed my post slightly while you were doing yours. Please read it again.
You are walking but You should now try running a bit. After all the walking you must be fit enough to sprint unless old age is creeping in.
If you are thinking doggie years maybe those shakes are old age.

Legacy memory lane

Kiyote you bring tears to my eyes. This is history and legacy and the art of writing tear jerkers at it's finest. My grandfather (a legacy item) taught me things which will always be relevant to life even a thousand years from now. Some of the things he taught me were already thousands of years old....

Globals are bad

I forgot. I only have one GOTO and one GOSUB in that main plus 4 programs. After returning from the Menu choice FUNCTION I have "On Key% GOSUB ,,,,,". On returning from the gosub I have the GOTO to start again. @Lachie dazdarian Years ago I bought Turbo Pascal 5. It had three manuals one being OOP. ...

Okay I fibbed and I did not promise. @ I Daniel If I had a stick I'd crack you. @Marcov Here I run around asking questions. How did I ever miss the post in the Beginners forum:- "Sticky: New to FreeBASIC" Links to Tut sites and references to things I want to know. If I don't ask questions for a whil...

which one ? the "Globals are bad" has to all intent and purposes been concluded. Or is it my latest suggestion. I don't mind it's only a suggestion. Marcov and I are having profitable discourse but we keep digressing. Or just say "Oh shut up, please". Must use please else it's rude. Ok I got Marcov ...

Global variables are bad

My curiosity has been aroused. The post: Accepting your limitations / Things I want to do: Rolliebollocks I'm not clued up and that's a fact being only a part-time QB4.5 programmer at best who has a monkey on his back pushing me to acquire more and more general knowledge. At this stage I have no nee...

No come off it. I am taking the liberty to change your remark to:- "See how much problems 'some qb/basic' users have adopting to a compiled world." Then how about : "See how some programmers are finding it difficult to adopt to passing parameters and dropping Globals as far as possible" Programming ...

This sounds like the time when a friend's son battled for about a week to find a bug in his Turbo Basic program. It was to control something in the process of pasteurizing or bottling milk. He bullied me into helping him. I solved it in about ten minutes by swapping two lines of his code. It was pur...

Dijkstra

@Marcov Relsoft quoted an extract from and article by Dijkstra "it is practically impossible to teach good programming to students that have had a prior exposure to BASIC: as potential programmers they are mentally mutilated beyond hope of regeneration. " Ek raak 'n bietjie befoeterd as ek sulke ste...

Okay nobody volunteered. I'm also not volunteering but out of curiosity what's the job, is it one of those things where someone stands at attention for two minutes on his head and then collapses ?

@Eponasoft My apologies. I did not qualify the linking of two programs under item 6 of my post and thus naturally assumed you were kicking my butt because of that. Vince did say "for contemplation or flaming" so I accepted it in that spirit. Not really knowing you and anything about that post I actu...
