Character Insert Routine

I had a problem where I needed to insert spaces between words in a string. Each word was capitalized, which made the problem somewhat easier. Here is a routine I developed to allow you to insert a sequence of characters into a string before each capital letter of the string (excluding the first char...

I've updated this class to now support color math operations (+,-,*,/). The equivalent assignment operators (+=,-=,*=,/=) are also supported. These operators are useful for quickly combining RGB values of two colors or combining the RGB values of a single color with a constant amount. ' Program: Col...

We should realize that the compiler is very great (having already surpassed the language it was formerly intended to in some ways replace or be based upon Thank you. I might be biased, but I really enjoy a LOT of features that FB supports. I've always been about games and gfx and I'm really amazed ...

Vdecampo

Wish PMs were enabled or you had an e-mail in your profile. Anyway, I see you're in MD too. I'm looking for people to code with IRL. Hit me up some time.

I'm posting this for completeness. I thought I'd try another approach, and it actually works so here it is: dim shared as integer x 'declare our global first declare sub test(byval x as integer=x) 'pass our global by default sub test(byval x as integer) for p as integer=1 to 3 ? ? &q...

Here's another solution: dim shared as integer x=50 sub test() dim as integer GX=x 'Global X dim as integer x=GX 'Local X - overrides global x for remainder of code block for p as integer=1 to 3 ? ? "x inside SUB test="; x ? x+=1 next end sub ? "Value of X before sub=" &a...

Variable declarations using “Dim” and the “Var” keyword were not in QB, so backward compatibility to QB is not an issue. Not sure what version of QB you've been using but DIM has always been there for explicit variable declaration in QB. Var on the other hand did not exist in this capacity, but was...

I've just completed a thick sub-pixel line routine . It's still wide open for optimization, but it's quite functional. Thick Sub-Pixel Drawing Primitives (Circle)

I've been developing a set of anti-aliased, translucent gfx primitives that also support thickness. The current goal is just for functionality as I intend to use them in a gfx editor, where real-time speed isn't as crucial. It would be nice to make them fast enough to use in real-time applications, ...

Update: The flood fill routine now checks to make sure the starting point is within the screen bounds (no more crashing). I also replaced the flood_point sub with a macro which should produce a faster flood fill routine. The routine comment routine section has also been completed. It discusses my ap...

If you're going to use a block structure other possibilities include: dim as integer a,b,c double e,f,g end dim as dim integer a,b,c double e,f,g end dim Honestly, I think a block structure is a bit backwards. I don't really see any benefits as opposed to just using single line dim statements.

I am not complaining about the number of keystrokes required, just the presence and perpetuation of what I believe is an unnecessary VB kludge in FB. I think one BIG thing you've missed is that FB spawned from the QB community. Much of the project is/was geared towards allowing backwards compatibil...
