There used to be a basic compiler for the mac called FuterBasic but the the company decided to release their compiler as freeware. what's available now is a FBtoC, it seamlesly translates the FuterBasic code to C and then compiles it. BlitzMax is a Basic compiler that is also available for OS X and there's PureBasic but it's support for Mac intel is in the beta stage so I don't recommend it.

about the complexity of the wire, I think the author implemented it that way in order to keep the objects simple, when I have some free time I'll try to translate the program to FB.
