What the files generate are for

Can anyone point me to some documentation on what each of the compiled files produced by FB contain and their format?

ie. files like *.a, *.def, lib*.* etc. I have a half baked idea for a project, and I think I want to produce a file to be loaded together with the output of FB.

Thanks
Wally

Re: Is GTK 3 dead for windows at 3.6

As one old fart to another, thanks for the info. It looked like to me that the GTK people really do not care about windows and I was beginning to consider using some other package. I have been retired for a year now and always wanted to do this project and was familiar with GTK2 from some other pers...

Is GTK 3 dead for windows at 3.6

I have been using GTK 3 for awhile and like it and the documentation a lot better then GTK 2. However the other day I needed to do something and checked the documentation for the stable release of GTK 3 before I built my own routines and it is a lot further then 3.6. I found what I was looking for i...

Print colored text on a printer

Is there a simple way of creating (using something like Print #1, string where string contains both text and color code indicators) a text file with colored text that can be read with a document program like Microsoft Word. Other formatting like underline would be nice.

Re: Extended Library 0.5.0 is out!

I was trying to re-work an old project that used ext/xml using the new fbc 1.00 version. I got a bunch of loading errors. After researching this a little on the forum, I see a comment that the ext library will never work with fbc 0.90.x. Does this mean that I can no longer use the xml code in the li...

Re: Question on when MUTEX is needed

Thanks for the advice. In 99.999+% of the time I only need a single value shared between the two processes. It is only in the situation where I need to display a table of information from the running program do I need consistent data across several tables. I assumed I would need a MUTEX here. It was...

Question on when MUTEX is needed

I need to use threading for the first time. I have some simple questions. If the main program is a GUI responding to a user's request, and the thread is an execution module of some type that runs and runs and runs until something happens. If the main program only reads a set of shared variables&...

Re: TinyDialog a simple Windows and Linux user interface.

Having the Tiny Dialog as a separate thread works great. Thank you very much for the suggestion.

Thank you to everyone that made a suggestion. It was very helpful.

Re: TinyDialog a simple Windows and Linux user interface.

When I call the TinyDialog window, I tried setting HWND_BOTTOM to the fbgfx window, and then the fbgfx window disappears (actually its below the other 7 windows I had open at the time) and my fbEdit window appears, and the TinyDialog window is beneath that one. I suspect that the routine that is cal...

Re: TinyDialog a simple Windows and Linux user interface.

Thanks for the suggestion. I assume you meant FindWindow not FindWidow. But the problem is that prior to calling dlg.show the first time the window (TinyDialog) does not exist and FindWindow cannot find it. After the call to dlg.show it is too late because dlg.show does not return until the user has...

Re: TinyDialog a simple Windows and Linux user interface.

Thank you for this neat set of routines. I copied it over to my directory and it worked first time. Quite nice to see. I do have a question. I have a fbgfx window with takes up the entire screen ScreenRes ii, jj, 32 , 4, FB.GFX_WINDOWED ScreenControl FB.SET_WINDOW_POS, 0,0 That gets displayed and di...

Re: Question on "As Const" construct

Thanks this works for the length. But later on I need to compare this string to a stored string using strcmp and the error still occurs.
