Re: FreeBASIC access to Rpi GPIO pins

So over a year later and a renewed interest in the Rpi I decided to give it a try.

EDIT: Deleted code and image as there were serious errors making them useless.

Re: Linux port problem with Raspberry Pi

Thanks Joshy it was /dev/ttyACM0 It worked with the ARDUINO IDE open although I didn't try it with the Serial Monitor on. One thing I noticed was that when the program was run with Build > Execute the console window was selected and I had to click the program window to select it instead. I am using ...

FreeBasic and Arduino projects

There are lots of cool electronic projects these days that you can do using the RPi and/or Arduino.
FreeBasic will run on the Rpi although most projects use Python.
This is the setup I intend to buy soon.

Linux port problem with Raspberry Pi

After successfully communicating between a FreeBasic Window's program and the Arduino I decided to try the Raspberry Pi with its Linux system. The Arduino IDE downloaded and worked fine on the RPi so it was able to use the Rpi USB to Arduino connection without any problem. Although the FreeBasic Lin...

Re: FreeBasic communication with Arduino logic error?

Thank you for your code it seems to work well. I wasn't sure how or where to include a delay simply because I didn't really understand what was going on with the code. I did handshaking back in my MSDOS Assembler days using the parallel ports. No LOC or COM statements or a multitasking OS to underst...

Re: FreeBasic communication with Arduino logic error?

With your version the LEDs still work correctly but there is no change in the behavior reading the button states. An Arduino Uno could be used just change the pins used and their label in the setup() Of course you would need the LEDs and Buttons circuit to connect to test the code. In my case I happ...

FreeBasic communication with Arduino logic error?

Recently I renewed my interest in Arduino and RPi projects and hoped to use FreeBasic for high level control. In this first test I have 4 LEDS as output and 4 button switches as input. https://i.postimg.cc/ncnjyDwJ/arduino-Test.jpg The idea is for the PC to send the Arduino commands and the Arduino ...

Re: Physics question

dodicat does not write code to educate, he writes code to solve a problem. I have a special folder called the dodicat folder because I find his examples so useful and/or entertaining. My favourite pieces are his 3d stuff using fast code to place dots in 3d space. His bit in this thread on implement...

Re: Physics question

Produced erratic behavior on my Windows10 as well. The program just didn't work properly. Tried to move a dot and nothing happened and then it went silly so I just gave up. The "angle example" for badidea worked ok.

Re: Physics question

I expect both to move in y-direction only while rotating. You may be right with an object hitting a Borg ship. The boat and it's motor interacts with the water it is not skidding along a frictionless frozen lake with a rocket for propulsion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaIqanZ00uo However if th...

Re: Physics question

I cannot see what BasicCoder2's last post is adding more to the conversation than the second post did; or am I missing something? Neither did I. As I don't see a real difference between the flying saucer and the borg cube, I expect both to move in y-direction only while rotating. (assuming the thru...

Re: Physics question

fig. 4 and fig. 5 and fig. 6 are taken from my latest program where I am using a single rocket motor that can be rotated. fig. 6 I would suggest is equivalent to your first example where you have two fixed motors with one not firing. I would suggest that the vector force would be divided up as shown...

badidea wrote:Nice demo, but you skip most of the physics involved (forces, mass, inertia). Direct change of rotation and speed. Which is fine for a game, but not what I am looking for (in my game).

Maybe you need a 2d physics engine?
