comm problem with Debian Stretch

Below is a test program to print out incoming data. All that I am getting is blank lines, although the cursor does move along. I checked out if I have a real connection with GTKTerm, and that does print out the data that I am expecting. Since this is running on the new Debian Stretch version of Linu...

Re: Copy FB .csv file to Base table

Thanks for the responses. I have switched gears and started to use mysql and Workbench GUI. The LibreOffice Base was starting to get quite sluggish as the database was growing in size. With mysql it takes a couple of command line commands to get the .csv file loaded into the specific table, but it s...

Copy FB .csv file to Base table

I am trying to figure out if I can eliminate some steps. Right now what I am doing is creating a .csv file with my FB program, then I open up the .csv file with LibreOffice Calc. From there I highlight the data and copy that to an opened LibreOffice Base table, that I have set up. I tried just doing...

Re: mysql error

I included this line in the program, to see what happens next. if( mysql_real_connect( db, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, MYSQL_PORT, NULL, 0 ) = 0 ) then print "Can't connect to the mysql server on port"; MYSQL_PORT mysql_close( db ) end 1 end if And I get this- Can't connect to the mysql server...

Re: mysql error

I guess I missed a line of code, now I do not get any errors. ' testdb.bas ' ' November 16, 2017 ' #include once "mysql\mysql.bi" #define NULL 0 dim db as MYSQL ptr db = mysql_init( NULL ) print "Client info: "; *mysql_get_client_info() print "Host info: "; *mysql_get_h...

Re: mysql error

Thanks St_W, that did the trick, I think. Taking a step further, the program below compiles fine but... ' testdb.bas ' ' November 16, 2017 ' #include once "mysql\mysql.bi" #define NULL 0 dim db as MYSQL ptr print "Client info: "; *mysql_get_client_info() print "Host info: &q...

mysql error

When I compile the program below, I get: ld: cannot find -lmysqlclient I am running this on a Raspberry Pi Desktop PC, which is basically a Debian Linux. I have installed mysql-server and mysql-client. Is their something else that should be installed on the Linux system? Thanks ' testdb.bas ' ' Nove...

Data Analysis tools

I thought I would open this topic up for discussion, not even sure if freeBasic would be the place to start for this. I am also not even sure as to where this conversion should start, maybe the simplest form of data analysis, a requested form of a grouping of data points? How could you use freeBasic...

Re: MyTerminal threads prog

So far the freeBasic program is a very good replication of my Python program, short of some data analysis tools. Now I am going to start the conversion of of the program to a a GUI solution, if it is a practical solution. I am still not sure if it will be more practical than the console version. But...

Re: MyTerminal threads prog

@grindstone, thanks for all the help. I added the example code to the data command, and it is working as expected. I am getting very close to taking my Python program offline, and using this freeBasic program. I am now wondering if freeBasic could be used to do some data analysis on my csv file. Wit...

Re: MyTerminal threads prog

In another thread I got a solution for the serial Com data streaming, which I added to this program. I gave the program a quick test and it looks like it is working as expected. The created csv file also works as expected when I open it up in a calc program, all the like items are in a separate colu...

Re: Serial Com readline

This seems to be giving what I want, but it has created a new problem that I have to work around. I added the sleep 5,1 so it would not mess up my foreground UI in my program. do buffer2 += Input(1,#1) sleep 5,1 loop until Right(buffer2,2) = Chr(13,10) Print #2,date;",";time;",";...

Re: Serial Com readline

@grindstone Do you read at all something from the "#1"-input? Yes, I get a number 40, I assume it means 40 chars in the buffer. Below is a streaming data slice: S1,4.18; B1,12.61; C1,0; B2,12.47; I counted the chars in that sample and I count 31 chars, not sure where the other 9 chars are ...

Re: MyTerminal threads prog

It seems that I have run into problem with this program. The main point of this program was to be able to capture a data stream and have it stored to a csv file, to be used like a database, using LibreOffice Calc. I guess maybe I posted this program much to early, but I guess somebody might get some...
