TYPEs and circular references

I have a situation where an element in one TYPE structure is dimmed as the second TYPE. In the second TYPE, there is a member that is declared as the first TYPE. here is some simple code that demonstrates: Type MyType1 pSomeVar1 As MyType2 Ptr End Type Type MyType2 pSomeVar2 As MyType1 Ptr End Type ...

John Spikowski - given your track record on this site you may be waiting a while for a response. It takes time to heal the wounds of the past. I imagine that many question your motives.

It was just a common "You got RickRolled". I always seem to fall for them and I always laugh when I do. It helps lighten the mood sometimes.

If you remove -lang QB and -lang fblite, the result is no more basic: no line numbers, all declarations explicit, no GOTO/GOSUB... if it cannot compile programs written in BASIC, you cannot call it a BASIC compiler. You've got be joking, right? When did QB become "THE" BASIC by which all future BAS...

QB compatibility may have been a great design goal in the beginning of the FB project but it is high time for it be totally and utterly wiped from the FB project forever. Drop it, delete it, military wipe it from the archives. Concentrate totally, 100%, on the FB compiler and do away with QB, FBLite...

"Many people believe that the FreeBASIC community is on life support. " "Most of the user base is young and inexperienced. " I assume this is just based on your perception. I'd love to see your indepth market study of the people who contributed to the 646,000 downloads from SourceForge. That sure w...

I was going to ask "why" as well, but I didn't want to look stupid for asking the question in case there was an obvious answer. :-)

I use PowerBASIC every day. The best part is the very strong string handling functions and the rock solid knowledge knowing that what is documented is what will happen. There is no second guessing thinking that maybe there is a bug lurking underneath. There have been very, very, very few bugs uneart...

My impression is that MS would want as many people as possible to begin programming and languages like FB are perfect vehicles to get new programmers into the system. Once hooked on programming, over time MS would try to lure them to their higher priced flagship visual studios. It's all about gettin...

FreeBASIC on SlashDot

Well, an article posted on ./ mentions FB. Pretty cool. There is a Basic implementation at (2, 2), which I suppose few people would expect to see there. The open-source group behind the FreeBASIC compiler deserve much more recognition than they are getting. Here is the article: The speed, size and d...
