Are you sure that in your actual program, "f = freefile" is right just before the open instruction which returns the error (to ensure that the file number is not returned and opened elsewhere first)...? I am pretty sure the freefile line is located right before the open for input line. Somehow I go...

Apparently, I seem to be mistaken with ImageCreate being the cause.

I've already eliminated ImageCreate from the checklist of possible cause and the bug still persists. :(

weird.

Does ImageCreate's underlying implementation make use of File Open?!?

funny because when I commented out those parts I get a value of 6 (as expected) and not 39. Still, I'm getting the error `Illegal Function Call'.

Bug must be in my code then.

Thanks for the comment dkl. I guess my suspicion grew even more -- I'm afraid I will have to handle fixing a bug from other community-provided FreeBASIC-library I'm using. My concern is that, my code use: 1.) a log file, 2.) an ini file, 3.) script file 4.) compiled script file -- what I wonder is t...

Illegal Function Call on opening file

May anyone enlighten me about the error called Illegal Function Call? When does this usually happen? My code is way too big to be stripped down for hunting the bug. This is the part where the error happens Dim f As Integer f = FreeFile() If Err > 0 Then Print "Before? Err " & E...

I am currently writing an IDE for my FB-written game engine -- plan is to support HTML5 as well.

got it! I added a new paramater called alphachannel , this is basically a flag if you wanted to use stored alpha channel to your 32bpp image. you can still use alphavalue parameter to alphablend the alphachannel-blitted image. ;) ' by D.J.Peters (Joshy) ' a put, scale, rotate hack for the ne...

leopardpm, setting alphavalue to -1 should blit the alpha channel. However, with this current hack I did, MultiPut lost the alpha blending.

I'm still currently working on keeping the alphablending while having the alpha channel blit functionality.

feels kind of weird but I guess I did it. here's the newly updated MultiPut that blits Alpha Channel of source image. Now the native Put really $ucks! \m/ ' by D.J.Peters (Joshy) ' a put, scale, rotate hack for the new ImageHeader format. 'MultiPut [destination],[xmidpos],[ymidpos],source,[x...

sorry, but I just wanted to bump this thread. It's really pain in the a$$ to create art assets for an FB game that uses MultiPut -- let's face it, MultiPut rocks because it already handles rotation, scaling, flipping, and all that. Put only excels in its ability to blit alpha channel. I dearly hope ...

when you say " force to stop " do you mean just pressing a key (in the test code) and letting it close, or using Task Manager to kill the process. I tried both and still no crashes. Clicking the X on the window end the app -- make sure pointers are deallocated. Basically, the idea is close the app ...

Did you try to run the program for just 5~10 seconds then force stop it, doing so repeatedly for just a minute?
