I really think it could be when version one is released. It's free, generates very fast code, implements (or soon will) seemingly all the features that modern C/C++ and other compilers have, etc... the list goes on.

Functions written in C or other languages won't know how to handle FB array descriptors, it'd be nice if there was a way to pass the array but not its descriptor (no, not push the whole thing, just put a pointer to the first item). If there is a way...
Not sure about RapidQ, but in FreeBasic, you can change the packing of the type by using
at the end of your UDT, where 'x' is the number of bytes you want to leave for packing.
