Re: Hashed/Linked Arrays (A very fast Particle Manager)

With these changes to Dahfi’s code: #define MAX_PARTICLES 20000 dim as single nozzle = 10000 Dim As Single life_avg = 4.0 Dim As Single life_vari = 4.0 'Sleep 15,1 I get ~440 FPS on my old 3GHz P4, GeForce FX 5200 system. I need to save for a new computer since 3ghz is now old. LOL Thanks!!! BTW, I...

Re: Hashed/Linked Arrays (A very fast Particle Manager)

Dahfi: Cool! If only we have templates, the linked arrays could be templated so that any datatype can use it. http://rel.phatcode.net/junk.php?id=129 dodicat: That's a nice one. As I've said finding inactive index in linear arrays tend to be fast enough, but your access time is directly proportional...

Re: Will there be game programming competiton held by FBGD.?

Yes,there will be. I took a break from the community work for about a month ( chasing other women and then pleasant times with my original woman, great :) ), but should get in the saddle soon and start one, maybe even this weekend, although late November till early February is the most realistic st...

Re: Hashed/Linked Arrays (A very fast Particle Manager)

Hi Relsoft, What exactly does your program do? And what limits the number of particles to a few thousand? If all you want is moving particles then even older machines can run tens pf thousands of particles. Cheers, Mike It's not the particles per se, but how you manage to add a particle. Some parti...

Hashed/Linked Arrays (A very fast Particle Manager)

My acer netbook still pumps more than 60 FPS with this baby at 2048 particles. CPU -> intel atom 1ghz GPU -> intel integrated I generally use this for bullet-hell systems, explosions and particles. I thought I should share it here. BTW, does FB support templates now (Short of ## abuse)? ie: LinkedAr...

Re: MyDDDungeonsGL free 3D mod of DDDungeons

The mingw gl headers in windows does not include GL_BGRA so it's not the fault of the translator. Just include "glext.bi" or do a define.

Re: AI Techniques Question

yeah, and I experimented with them as well as HFSMs. It became quickly apparent that such methods were woefully inadequate to achieve the appropriate possible responses to a dynamic environment. In addition, FSMs quickly turned into large, unusable, and impossible to debug spaghetti code. FSMs work...

Re: re: start problems

I totally agree with all!

Some sort of a first-time use code would also be nice.

Code: Select all

cls
print "hello world"
sleep

Which would compile and run if user double clicks FBC the first time.

And yes, we need the site to be a little more "picturesque"
