2. Can I "procedurally enhance" sprites Again, no problem with that at all, but they should still be recognisable as the original graphics. So, rescale + texturized is ok? Yes, but obviously your textures would have to be procedurally generated (which is what you seem to be suggesting anyway) or I ...

1. Can I additionaly use procedural graphics (compo gfx + my procedural gfx) You certain can, but the main objects in your game should be taken from the original graphics. 2. Can I "procedurally enhance" sprites Again, no problem with that at all, but they should still be recognisable as the origin...

... and using OpenGL or HGE would give me a lot more options. I've never used HGE on a project before but played with it a few days before the competition started. I'm using it on my entry and am absolutely loving it! I'll probably use it for future projects, too. So... my vote is to go with HGE. ;...

(a)It's not that hard to write code for drawing the characters provided - it doesn't really add any challenge, except for newbies, who would not be able to do it at all. Using font characters stored in a bitmap is very easy to do, and is in fact identical to displaying *any* of the other graphics o...

Well, inspiration finally struck about 10 minutes ago, and I have an idea for my game. I now need to decide if I should bother using OpenGL or HGE, as whilst I could easy code it just in vanilla FreeBASIC, assuming I finish in time I'll want to add some additional eye candy, and using OpenGL or HGE ...

ciw, I'm not sure if the idea that the participants vote is good too. It seems like an odd thing to me. I mean, some people might vote for the obvious favorites with low scores to cut down their competition. The again, if the scoring will be public and will have to be elaborated I doubt anyone will...

So to submit our entries, we need only post a link here to the download before the end time of the compo? -Vince Yeah, at the end of the competition I'll be downloading the latest versions from all of your download links and these will be used for judging. Can I change color of sprites? like red fo...

I'm tempted to upload the source to mine now on the basis that if there is anything that breaks a rule, hopefully someone will say and i can fix it! Your game certainly appears to be within the rules, with the main objects being taken from the graphics provided but supplemented by graphics primitiv...

2) Can I submit multiple entries? Can I win more than one prize if I have two good entries? Ciw1973, you did not answer this question. o_O Sorry. I'm only just back at home now after a 3 hour delay on the return flight. No problem at all submitting multiple entries, but you as an individual can onl...

As I've already said, the reason for providing the font as part of the graphics file, is that if I say it's OK to use system fonts, then people could use fonts which contain essentially graphics characters. For a beginner, loading the BMP file into FreeBASIC is extremely easy as it uses the expected...

Hi everyone. I'm in London at the moment, and have been really busy with only had my Blackberry for Internet access, which isn't exactly ideal for viewing this forum, so this is the first time I've read through the replies from last night and today. I'm sorry that the bit depth of the image I provid...

Sorry about the upload guys and girls. I was having serious trouble with my Internet connection at home last night, and would get the occassional 10 seconds of connection followed by about 10 minutes or more of nothing. I tried to connect to my webspace using FTP to upload the file, but the connecti...

I've just seen the image Lachie's posted up, and believe it or not, it's the wrong one again. It's missing the exploding base and has a number of duplicate characters in the lower section.

I've updated the link YET AGAIN, so if you could grab the one in the first post.
