Eh... I'm not sure if there's any way to change the console font. There are libraries for using other fonts if you use graphics mode, though - and the graphics mode-only Draw String command lets you use custom fonts as well, for which several utilities have been written. There are utilities, librari...

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but if you need to declare a Sub before you declare a UDT (such as outside of a Scope block) you can do it with forward referencing: 'Create a forward reference to someUDT even though 'we haven't declared someUDT yet Type forward As someUDT 'Declare t...

Err... this really belongs in the Beginners section of the forum. Answers Flashing The flashing is because of the Cls in a loop. This happens in text mode, unfortunately. If you're willing to use a graphical mode, you can avoid the flashing by enclosing all drawing statements within ScreenLock/Scree...

You could use arrays, but yeah, I'd use some of the FreeBASIC OO features and pointer arrays like anonymous1337.

Well I had something good going, but I don't think I'll be able to get it anywhere near done.

I may finish this entry, just so I can actually have finished something I started for once, but it won't be in time for the competition.

Probably not, simply because there's no need. FreeBASIC is designed to be a stand-alone compiler system, and while it's nice using an IDE most people don't want it to be like QBASIC with the heavily integrated stuff. Plus, that would be showing favor to Windows, while many of the developers and user...

Whenever I install FBedit, I always rewrite some of my settings (such as help paths, building options, and code editor settings). How can I avoid this in the future? Funny, I was annoyed at this exact thing the other day. Minor annoyance, but since other people find it annoying too maybe I'll use t...

Will it be open source or the like? If the game is good enough (it looks brilliant from the screenshots) perhaps someone who knows the linux platform better than you could port it. If you're worried about people stealing your code/graphics, you could choose a license or write your own to suit your n...

So far I'm impressed with the results of the tests I've done, but I did find some that didn't work. I don't know if you're hoping to eventually have full GIF support or not, but if you are, it might help to know some of the things it chokes on. http://www.ProfessionalAnimations.com/GAimage/animation...

Hmm, perhaps it was un-stickied because of the inherent differences between Community Discussion and Off Topic. Subtle differences, but differences. Anyways, I still think it should be stickied.

load GIFs into 24-color buffers so I can use them in true color mode Might I respectfully suggest to keep at least SOME libraries 8-bit only Currently, I'm using 32-bit color modes for loading/rendering. 24-bit has always seemed a bit "odd" to me. As for 8-bit, it will be supported...eventually. 32...

Awesome. My critiques: -When I copied any of the modes, I got an error because in your code you use the constant CHILD_START_DISTANCE_CHANGE in the code but the modes (which replace all the constants) do not include that constant. I made it work by adding the constant in above that, so when I change...
