DIR isnt working?

In 20beta, print dir ("*", fbdirectory) returns "." then ".." then the actual files in in the directory instead of directories.

Its like fbdirectory is &HFF but i have tested it, and its correct. &h10.

No idea whats going on....
Any ideas?

Could you put some comments in the code? I would love to see how exactly you did it. It would make an awesome main character for a game....

one of the way so to optimize your code is to do some precalcs.

You are doing a lot of sin and cos calcs on the fly.
At the start of your program create an array, say [3600] big, and fill it at the program start with a loop. that gives you a .1 degree resolution.

Re: FreeBASIC Winsock TCP Chat Program

Thank you for making this tutorial available. I would like to see more of this type of 'handholding' tutorial posted by FreeBASIC users who have already mastered using one or other of the many goodies which can be used with FB. I agree with this. I am in the process of writing a library for complet...

Thanks for the info on how to use the APIs.
Is there some library reference?
For example here there is "QueryPerformanceFrequency"
Is there a whole list of these functions to pick from? MSDN is useless in this regard.
Is there a QueryCPULoad(cpu1) etc etc
Thanks for the help so far.

your program is looped incorrectly. Any key press will be instantly printed, then cleared because the locate and printer part of the inner loop. change it to this do do k$ = inkey$ sleep 25 ' have nothing else in here, this will loop all the time. loop until LEN(k$) > 0 LOCATE 5, 4: Print k$, Len(k$...

Is there a way to rewrite this so that it just pops up the information required in the program itself?

I want to display the information just inside the app.

i want to write a small program that will run as a screensave or permantely on the desktop that will be able to return CPU usage and maybe even network and drive usage for a server. I was thinking that WMI would be the only way to do that, but how do you go about reading wmi info into a FB program? ...

a 24 bit bitmap by definition doesnt store any alpha channel data, so in the absence of data, zero is probably the default.

Try your hardest to remove the square root from the circle collision tester. its horribly slow. How? this is an idea. if you need to compare a radius... radius = sqrt (x*x + y*y) if radius < test then etc etc. try this radius = x*x+y*y if radius < test*test then etc etc precompute test*test before ...
