Re: Audio library for FreeBasic - Features

If you don't intend to use the sound feature it's very unlikely that your program will contain keywords named SOUND, PLAY, SineWave and so on, so you will have no need to change anything, even if the library were enabled.

Re: Audio library for FreeBasic - Features

Like the graphic library, it would not be included if no command from it is used, so there would be no overhead. Also, if anyone had a different version of SoundSet, they could always use #undef to disable that keyword. Anyway, I don't know how to add keywords to the compiler, so for that part I lea...

Re: Audio library for FreeBasic - Features

Looks like a good start. Do you have specific name/email that we can use to attach to a commit? You can use the email I use in this forum: angros47 at gmail.com My name is Angelo Rosina. I like the simple interface, and the design choices to limit the feature set. That's the approach I would take a...

Re: freebasic on win32s

Another challenge could be porting FreeBasic to bare metal (perhaps it could be done by compiling the runtime library using newlib?). This would allow to make FreeBasic programs able to run without operating system.

Re: freebasic on win32s

Knatterton, the redmond theme is totally unrelated with this topic, could you stop mentioning it, please?

I personally find Mysoft's work very interesting, at least as a retrocomputing experiment Also, it allows to redefine the minimal system requirements to run programs compiled with FreeBasic

Re: freebasic on win32s

The theme would just look like windows 3.1, it would still have the system requirements of Linux

Re: freebasic on win32s

Impressive! And a pleasant surprise, seeing someone doing a port for Windows 3.1 (in my opinion, Windows 3.x was the best version of Windows, considering what it was able to do with such limited hardware resources). Too bad that no one ever managed to remake it open source (ReactOS works more like W...

Re: retro-basic

Of course, that applied only in mode 13, since every memory location mapped to a single pixel. In modes 7,8,9 and 12, every memory location affected only one color bit, related to 8 pixels, and to plot a single pixel one had to poke values in 4 bytes (one for red, one for green, one for blue, one fo...

Another thing to ask... for the dos version, has the symbol table been updated?

Re: Modern GL 2D game lib needed

Try adding

Code: Select all

glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D,GL_TEXTURE_MAG_FILTER,GL_NEAREST)
glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D,GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER,GL_NEAREST)

after ScreenRes, tell me if it works (you need to include the OpenGL header, of course)

Re: Modern GL 2D game lib needed

Looks like you forgot to set the OpenGL mode in ScreenRes, using the GFX_OPENGL flag.

Code: Select all

ScreenRes(1024,768,32, , GFX_OPENGL)

Although the window itself will be scaled, and made 4x bigger (4096*3072), so you might want to use

Code: Select all

ScreenRes(256,192,32, , GFX_OPENGL)

instead

Re: Modern GL 2D game lib needed

Currently FreeBasic can build for windows 32 and 64, for linux 32 and 64, and for dos (only 32, because there is no official 64 bit dos extender). Forget the xbox port... it is an old port, not updated in years, for an old version of xbox not in production any more. There are unofficial ports of Fre...

Re: Modern GL 2D game lib needed

So a question comes to mind now. If FBGfx can handle my rendering, is it more likely to be portable to things like tablets or gaming consoles? Or basically, that rendering is in the same boat as using the GL FFP, and will also run into issues for porting? That rendering uses the GL FFP, so it can w...

Re: FreeBASIC 1.08 Development

Is there any chance that audio support could be added, in this version, as it has been discussed on https://freebasic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=26256 ?
