You could try creating a GCC enviroment variable before invoking fbc: SET GCC=full_path_to_gcc.exe_from_mingw's

That's what i use to compile with -gen gcc.

Kristopher: sure, i can install joomla or drupal (which one would you prefer?) and give you access as admin. No worries about how long it will take. Thanks. Other people could join the effort too later.. <sarcasm>The front page is perfect, i designed it myself. I'm really proud of it</sarcasm>

Well, do we have any expert in a modern CMS? Options are Joomla and Drupal. I don't know which is better. We need someone that is up to the task to recreate all sections of this site using one of the CMS listed. Later we may need someone to migrate the content/data too. The forum and wiki would stil...

marcov explained it well. There's no bloat. If your class has virtual methods, there's no way to call the right method without including a hidden pointer to the virtual methods table. RTTI comes for free then, because that pointer is reused to locate the RTTI table. If there's no virtual methods, yo...

Static data members are in the to do list but won't be added atm - at least i can't work on that, sorry. I added the IS operator, now you can do (using sir_mud's example): const DOG_ACTION = "rub belly" const CAT_ACTION = "sleep" type Animal extends Object '' must extend Object s...

There's no polymorphism, you would have to declare the methods as virtual to that work as expected.

I think inheritance is almost done. I've yet to write tests to add to the compiler's test suite, plus try to rebuild the compiler using the new version. There are some warnings with -gen gcc that i've to fix. Support for abstract methods should come next. Then we could make a new release. Polymorphi...

VonGodric: Sup, mate? Hmm, I doubt the sources will ever be well documented. I don't have much time to work on the missing features, let alone writting docs, really sorry. If nobody is against "inherits", it could be that, no problem. But I find it easier to remember "extends" than "inherits". Proba...

The other alternative would be "inherits" as in vb.net. The other keywords are pretty much standard and are the choice of most OO languages (abstract, interface, class etc).

I'm only adding support for inheritance right now. Polymorphism should be added later.

I added some support for inheritance. The changes are in the v0_22-inheritance branch. It's WIP and i can't promise anything. For now the implementation is really simple, but things like this already work: type TObject public: declare sub thing() private: dim as byte unused end type sub TObj...

I'll take that as just another sour comment from the few bitter forum members that are too scared of their spouses to abuse them. Congratulations, John, you have been banned from this forum. I can't remember the last time i had to do something severe like this.. anyways. Bye. Good luck with "your" ...
