Yes, it does...and I also tried the brute force approach.

CLOSE Doesn't close.

Exit the program doesn't close

CLOSE #1 doesn't close it

And end the program doesn't close either.

CLOSE #1 or CLOSE and
END

and CLOSE or Close #1 and
SYSTEM

nothing closes the port.

First official FB-DOS Comm Bug Report ;-).

First off, great work...in essence comm works as expected. :-). Here's the situation...I have a loop that gets characters into a string variable and that string gets sent to com1 when Enter is pressed. Now if I type a sentence and hit Enter, it gets sent without a problem. if I exit the program I ha...

Re: reply to anonymous1337

I have not used one of these forums before, I hope this entry is attached to the original posting as a Reply. Thanks for the warning about -lang deprecated. One of the hardest lessons to learn in maintaining legacy COBOL code is that every simple code change has a hidden reason the last guy did not...

I'm going to give the comic the benefit of the doubt, and assume the point of it isn't to make fun of anyone, but even so, I think people could take offense and infer an attack on them. I'd advise against doing any more of them, and I think we should at least be aiming for a position of mutual resp...

HI Fox, have you tried loading the file into a string variable and doing the following:

Code: Select all

LeadedFile = Left$(LoadedFile, LEN(LoadedFile)-128)

Open DestinationFile FOR OUTPUT AS #1
PRINT #1, LoadedFile
CLOSE #1

This might prove quicker and accomplish the same thing.

Glad you liked it BPak. I thought it was a good "next part" to the file manipulation series. :-).

Stay tuned, now I have to think about what part 5 will be about ;-)

PlayerOne does make a point, FB is not just a game language, it's true that it's not confined by any OS or Usage constraints. But I think he missed the point of this thread. This thread is to do exactly what he says in his last sentence. This forum is about the language. The community side is about ...

Relsoft has the closest definition of a professional forum. And fb.net as it stands is getting rather close to that definition if it didn't reach it already. ANda well, for a project like this one, this is how it needs to be (and I mean even if fb.net didn't have a forum per se, someone somewhere wo...

I know I never saw you delete any code any where. Wouldn't that be kinda like suicide or masochism since a good part of the code here is your own? hehe....you'd have what 1 in 5 chance of deleting your own contributions? LOL

<redudency> *cough* community.freebasic.net *couugh* ;-) </redundancy>

Seriously though, that would be the perfect place for competition forums amonth so many other things missing from here and other things probably never even thought of. ;-)
