Re: Best Implementation for Set of Elements that I manually change

First I'll have to play around with these dynamic arrays. Thanks again. As far as I remember from my own tries, it's rediming often the array that is slow (changing the size). Redim Preserve is even worst. But if you don't redim all the time, arrays are not slow. And they are very instinctive to ha...

Re: "A Love Letter To FreeBASIC" Game Dev Competition (Feb 2019 –Mar 2019) - Round 2

I couldn't make it (unexpected happenings). So, best of luck to both. I tried both games and they seem to work fine here (crappy Celeron laptop with Win10 and IntelHD card). I can perfectly understand how difficult it is to make something in time, above all something as refined as what you projecte...

Same and final version, but with executables (Linux/Windows): freebasic_vs_tetris_2019-04-29.zip (~5 MB) If "00:00, french hour" is the deadline, then I am just in time. I still didn't play your game! Downloaded it but a little busy and tired. I can't wait anyway. Do you know what happene...

Re: Are you happy with your office's lightings?

TT, that is called dynamic lighting. Philips has such a system. Essentially, the lighting system can be programmed to vary the intensity and color temperature of the general lighting in a space during the day. I have not had a project use that system yet; in fact, I am not aware of any systems havi...

Re: "A Love Letter To FreeBASIC" Game Dev Competition (Feb 2019 –Mar 2019) - Round 2

Hi all. I'm on my way. I'm on the last few lines of codes absolutely needed. Then I expect a delivery at my repo before tonight 00:00, french hour. It will be a short game! But it seems to work until now. Even if I can hardly say that this is suitable for all screen sizes. But this is the least amon...

https://github.com/trapmania/Fbgenlab/tree/WIP2604/DIR

And yes, before you ask, we still don't play for the moment.

Added some graphics and sounds (stolen to DJ.Peters fbsounds examples). And a new title!

Re: No OOP?

Can I create, compile and execute an offline program with only Free Basic (and an appropriate IDE), but without any OOP or other external programming code? My program is very simple, but does input a text file that has uniform records, one per line. Hi kip, yes you can use FB this way. You can then...

Re: Are you happy with your office's lightings?

What kind of computer work do you do mostly? Maybe you can do some design work on a (non-electronic) whiteboard in between computer work. We have a whiteboard in every office. And I always make drawings on whiteboards whenever I entry someone's office. I cannot think clearly without drawing stuff. ...

Re: Are you happy with your office's lighting?

For monitors, yes. For TVs it is called Phillips Ambilight. See e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bias_lighting Thanks. That's a very nice stuff, I didn't know about that. What is still surprising to me is that professional designers may work facing a wall. It is recommended by medicine to have so...

Re: Are you happy with your office's lightings?

I think that if the external light changes color and intensity, then you definitely want to adjust your computer screen with it as well. Hi badidea, what actually happens to me is that I think I know how to best tune the color rendering of the screen, provided it is not a too crap model, and above ...

Re: Are you happy with your office's lighting?

Did you or anyone experienced dynamic lighting features? You know those stuffs that imitate natural light in intensity and changes during the day. Ubuntu 18 and windows 10 both come with a dynamic blue light filter and I have a very hard time using a computer or device without one now. They make a ...

Re: Are you happy with your office's lighting?

Then it is nearly impossible to see anything on the computer screen when sunny, and a move somewhere else to continue. Recently I taped some big pieces of paper to the windows. The window cleaners will probably complain soon :-) Hi badidea, thanks for those meaningful comments. About what you say o...

Are you happy with your office's lightings?

Hello everyone, I wished to share around the topic of lights at office. It's not absolutly straightforward that this will be related to programming, and yet, I found out those days that it is. Simply, a good lightning helps to keep at screen and do good work happilly, while bad lightning is just eye...

Re: "A Love Letter To FreeBASIC" Game Dev Competition (Feb 2019 –Mar 2019) - Round 2

That isn't practical. When does it end then? When the last finishes? I mean, doesn't make sense. Let's make it end the 22 then. There is some irony that many of us seem to have met unexpected sources of difficulties just the moment where as BC2 noticed something was happening. Some have had car acc...

Re: "A Love Letter To FreeBASIC" Game Dev Competition (Feb 2019 –Mar 2019) - Round 2

One week to go. Who plans to submit a finished entry? Looking rather slim so far. Only 2. 2>0, nevertheless... I don't plan anything. During the week I cant make any coding those days. Monday 22th in France at least there is a no work day. If this is also true for the others, what about pushing the...
