Re: Ways in which I can embed a video player into GFX window?

⋅ I would like to be able to set at a custom, constant resolution. This is so the video player can embed 'properly' into my graphics windows (screen 20 for the game I am programming now, btw). ⋅ I would like to have full control over the functions that are available to the user,...

same here
if I replace the macros setpixel and getpixel with pset and point it works.
looks like x,y are out of range !

Joshy

I wonder why it works on my computers then.
What did I do wrong with the macros? How can I fix them?

Strange. It works for me on my Windows XP laptop and on my Ubuntu Desktop. I'll have to look through the code and see if I can find anything.

Software Rendered Voxel World

This is a voxel world renderer. It's not really very usable but it was fun to make and it looks sort of nice. The code is included in the zip file. The current world size is 29,750,000 cubes. Only something like 200,000 of those cubes are rendered per frame. Key Y toggles rasterization Key U toggles...

Re: Two isometric views - SATURN

Here is Saturn. I have yet to have a Cassini space ship finale animation. The three axes could be removed and a starry background added. It also lacks the hexagon standing wave at the north pole. Nice demo. It would be cool to make a simple space game with it. You could even do exploding planets fa...

Re: Eric: The Mysterious Stranger - RTS game(WIP)

If you are writing a platform game you don't use real physics. The physics in such games are designed for control and fun. I think real physics add an extra dimension of gameplay to platformers. Games like Trine use real physics and are quite fun because of it. If you have reached that stage with B...

Re: motion capture ?

That seems like a lot of work to me. In blender all I have to do is model a new character. Animations can be carried between models so its easy for me to have lots of different characters with animations as opposed to having to trace thousands of images. And how hard and time consuming is it to mod...

Re: Eric: The Mysterious Stranger - RTS game(WIP)

You need motion capture for your skeleton. I have responded to this thread in the general section on this subject. The tool I was making was more for use on 2d platformer sprites. So are you thinking of making a 2d platformer game? Is the Viking example a pre made model or did you shape and clothe ...

Re: motion capture ?

The expense would be in hiring performers and making costumes otherwise it is cheap and easy. That is how I made the character in this demo using myself as the performer. http://www.freebasic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=22633 Set up your camera and take a video of yourself walking or some ot...

Re: motion capture ?

As I understand it with Blender you have to change the positions of the limbs manually for animation unless you can use bone animations made by others as suggested by Joshy. You needed a set of animations taken from an isometric viewpoint. I saw the problem as having realistic movements best obtain...

Re: motion capture ?

The unit sprite is now a pre-rendered 3d model. I haven't been spending too much time on this RTS game recently because I had also had been working on a 2d skeletal animation program. Working on writing a 2d skeletal animation program or working on learning how to use one? If you are writing one wh...

Re: Eric: The Mysterious Stranger - RTS game(WIP)

It's been a while since I updated this thread. :) Feels good to have a lot of new features. I can't post the latest version because I messed up some of the AI but here is a screenshot of the auto terrain smoothing. https://s26.postimg.org/jglq7gf55/scene.png I added auto terrain edge smoothing for t...

Re: Liquidish 3d Terrain

Ah, these are nice! Reminds me of a 2d elastic grid I made way back. There's something to work on with your rope sim in that code :-) Cheers, Mike That looks really cool! It encourages me to put more study time into physics. :) I had this one for water effects a while age, but didn't post it. It is...
