Re: Eschecs 1.2.1 (UCI chess GUI)

It compiles (after I changed "chr$" to "chr" in sgui_misc.bas), and the application seems to work. But I don't know if the problem is really solved. Testers welcome. :) https://drive.google.com/open?id=1cIz1DduyE_ImL8tmov_cEzhGVhKbz6TK I did a couple of tests: Play 1 game agains...

Re: Soberango 0.00.0 (chess engine) realized.

... you might want to consider using a class to hold your shared variables, and make your subs and functions members of that class. Also you may want to consider using functions instead of subroutines... I think you are right.... but for this I need to learn what are class and functions, I still us...

Re: Soberango 0.00.0 (chess engine) realized.

Another question. Actually, once per move that means before start searching the tree of posibilities, Soberango change by random the order of the pieces that it will use to study theires movements. Cause this, actually in the tree search that are subroutines that be run thousends of times per second...

Re: Soberango 0.00.0 (chess engine) realized.

Thanks guys! This is what I mean when I said I abuse of subroutines: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/nwqr9s268zvr10j/Subrutinas%20sí%20o%20no.png?dl=0 10 in red is a subroutine that make calls, in blue, to red subroutines that are all of about the same size than 6 in red that is the only one I e...

Re: Soberango 0.00.0 (chess engine) realized.

The use of Subroutines slowdown the program as much as it is better to use more names for minor parameters than use Subroutines? Could Macros be usefull for this purposes? Replacing SUBs with macros is a good idea only in a tight loop that calls a very short SUB. The overhead for calling a sub is o...

Re: Soberango 0.00.0 (chess engine) realized.

Hi people again after a lot of time! I´m thinking in starting a new code for Soberango and I´m revisiting old suggestions. Here is one from Frisian: ... Also calling lot’s of SubRoutine’s is waist of time, especial routine’s that only called from one places. Better incorporate SubRoutine’s into one....

It's quite simple: astronomy works always, astrology works sometimes. <grin>

Sorry, is a program related with astronomy or with astrology? I do not know any relation between them. Thanks.

Re: Mosquito (UCI chess engine)

Sorry BasicCoder2, I just take a fast look at your code.
Why max 1 to 4, min 1 to 4?
Seems to me that it could look just 4 halfmoves ahead. I´m wrong?

Re: Mosquito (UCI chess engine)

Very interesting. Thank you Luis. I download your PGN and will study it. About time control, the problem is that Mosquito uses a recursive evaluation. If I increase the depth, the program crashes. I should replace recursion by iteration, but it isn't easy to do. Sorry, my programming terminology is...

Re: Mosquito (UCI chess engine)

I can´t find a time mode that make both engines uses aproximately the same amount of time. Mosquito seems to move instantly. I think you must add a time use strategy. With it Mosquito could join CCRL Ranks for example. I´m sure there are several weaker engines than Mosquito. Edit 1: 300/1 seems to b...

Re: BASIC Chess (UCI engine based on Dean Menezes QBASIC chess program)

Have you seen this one? Found it in my CHESS folders but can't remember where it came from. I started adding a simple GUI interface to the code and will post if I complete it... I take a look, it seems a very complete engine!!! I still could not understand how to use it. Any idea about the author? ...
