Re: Simple programs to start

@Roe5685, as RNBW wrote you can use my WinGUI in order to create Windows GUI applications in an easy way with the most common controls (editboxes (single line or multiline), buttons, checkboxes, radionbuttons, listboxes, menus, trackbars, progress bars). "Simple GUI" can be downloaded here...

Re: Simple WinAPI GUI library

So I will include the combobox into WinGUI.bi. This will be done easily since you have already done the coding. Thank you!

Re: Simple WinAPI GUI library

Nice example, I will include it in the next update. You wrote that the column widths can be changed by the user. How? In the source code? Regarding the combobox, we recently had a discussion. Meanwhile I think it might be useful to include also a combobox in the project, even if it has no scrollbar ...

Re: Simple WinAPI GUI library

I created a new update (see first post): Some EditBox functions added (cut, copy, paste or delete text, get number of text lines from an editor (multiline textbox), get a line of text from an editor Some examples revised Some examples added: - DataGrid.bas: editable data grid using a twodimensional ...

Re: Windows API Combobox

Hi Lothar Selecting an item from the list works only for the items which are actually visible in the combox list. If you scroll the list by means of the vertical scrollbar and click on an item subsequently, no selection is returned. Hi Ray, thank you for your answer and for your efforts regarding t...

Re: Windows API Combobox

As MrSwiss explained, "Sub Combobox_GetEditText" should be a function, because you want to get a text. Or do you mean a Sub with "ByRef Text As String" as second parameter? I guess this would not work if you use "Sendmessage" with a string pointer (pointing to an unknow...

Re: Windows API Combobox

Fine, I will look at your other examples, too.

Did you include the dropdown combobox with a vertical scrollbar? I had some difficulties to get the right index from a dropdown combobox when the contents of the combobox was scrolled, but I want to test that again, together with your other examples.

Re: Windows API Combobox

Ok, good luck! Regarding the second part of may code from June 24: The loop Do WaitEvent(msg) Loop Until msg.message = WM_LBUTTONDOWN index = ComboBox_GetCurSel(Combo) text = ComboBox_GetText(Combo, index) Print "index = "; index Print "text = "; text is not really nice, because ...

Re: Windows API Combobox

Hi Ray, I tried myself to integrate a combobox (dropdown combobox, see my example above) into WinGUI.bi, but with limited success (combo box without scroll bars, complicated handling of WM_LBUTTONDOWN message). Following the "Easy Windows API tutorial", WinGUI works in the way that the win...

Re: Windows API Combobox

An additional answer: You can get a line of text from the editor control (= multiline editbox) in WinGUI with the following code (FireFly function FF_TextBox_GetLine): '[DESCRIPTION] ' Gets a line of text a TextBox control. ' ' hWndControl: Handle of control (e.g. HWND_FORM1_TEXTBOX1) ' nLineNumber:...

Re: Windows API Combobox

Here is my idea with a first experimental version of a combo box which may contain an answer for you: 'The event loop works well only without vertical scrollbar! #Include "..\Inc\WinGUI.bi" Function ComboBox_New(ByVal x As Long, ByVal y As Long, ByVal w As Long, _ ByVal h As Long, ByVal hw...

Re: Windows API Combobox

Sorry, no idea how to do this. Maybe somebody of our more experienced Windows API experts can help.
Meanwhile I tend to go back to FLTK-C which is far better documented and understandable.

Re: Windows API Combobox

Hi RNBW, have you installed Firefly? You can find a lot of such functions in the functions library, for instance: '[DESCRIPTION] ' Adds a string to a ComboBox control ' ' hWndControl: Handle of control (e.g. HWND_FORM1_COMBO1) ' sText: The actual text to add. ' ' Returns: The zero-based index where ...
