Re: error 67: Array not dimensioned

You would need to dim test as a string.

Re: What happened to the code blocks?

And in case these selections were made by a young person, instead of assuming that the code looks the same to you as it does to older programmers (e.g. 50+) try running it past an older programmer. I agree! Us older people that are optically challenged have a hard time with the current font and col...

Re: What happened to the code blocks?

IE10 selects OK. Pastes line numbers and extra CRs. I personally don't like the font or color selection. I feel it's difficult to read.

Re: GetOpenFileName questions

Just a follow up FYI. Using the Excel filedialog method, I just ran a report that I selected 6491 files without a problem. My report program extracted data from XML files, put it into a spreadsheet, massaged the data, and provided a histogram of the data. It took 2.75 hours to run and created a spre...

Re: Sure,there is a probleme using window9.bi with fbgfx.bi

You are creating a windows menu but you aren't handling any windows events. So, when you click on the menu created with Windows9 it will crash. Just add commands to the loop to handle those events. #Include "window9.bi" #include "fbgfx.bi" Using fb Dim As EVENT e Dim As hwnd hwnd...

Re: Excel Disphelper help

Once again I figured it our right after I posted my question. Here is what I ended up with. sub xlcellsselect(r1 as integer,c1 as integer,r2 as integer,c2 as integer) dhgetvalue("%o",@xlCell1,xlSheet,"cells(%u,%u)",r1,c1) dhgetvalue("%o",@xlCell2,xlSheet,"cells(%u,...

Re: Excel Disphelper help

I'm back with a new problem. I can't figure out how to get a range of cells using cell number reference. Here is the VBA format. Any help would be appreciated. My head is getting sore from banging it on the wall. Worksheet.Range(Cells(1,1), Cells(10,2))) This is one of the variations that I've tried...

Re: Faster text file parsing

Thanks guys. The binary mode did increase the speed. Now method 2 is approximately 40 times faster than method 1.
@fxm, I am also using your recommendation to filter on CR instead of LF. That's a good call. I also had to change line 30 to:
buffer[a+1] = 0 ' add a null termination

Faster text file parsing

I'm sure this has been done before. I have a program that was parsing multiple text files from a server. I was using the standard method of opening the file and then using line input to get each line of text until the end of the file. I decided that it would probably be a bit faster to input the who...
