I'm a big fan of Windows 7. I never really minded Vista, but I feel that it was a necessary step. It did away with all sorts of cruft (and, sure, added some of its own) but I feel that Windows 7 really tidied up the whole system. I've installed it on junker PCs with 512 MB or 1 GB of RAM with no rea...

Unary minus doesn't quite work.

-3 + 2 crashes, as well as things like -(2 + 2).

Just a couple random suggestions -- everybody has their own preferred style and their own preferred ways of doing things, and you obviously can't tailor to everyone, but a feature that would be wonderful is keyboard shortcut configuration. There is another text editor I use called MED that lets you ...

edit: WINE didn't like it, even after I followed some instructions to get .NET apps to work Try installing mono (if you don't already have it) and executing the launcher with that. Mono is a portable version of the .NET runtimes and is actually wicked good at what it does. It even comes with a C# a...

The launcher looks like it was written in VB.NET. I actually really like .NET; is that sad? :P

You might want to consider time-based animation instead of animation based on frame rate. Unless you're already doing that. If you are, I have no idea what's causing my varying speed, then...

This game is beautiful . I love the art style and the gameplay. You should seriously keep working on this. My only complaints with the entire thing are that the in-game GUI elements aren't very pretty (but who cares?) and that my walking speed varies sometimes because my frame rate isn't that great....

AndAlso and OrElse seem like the right choice, given that they're full English words. AndIf and OrIf would be fine with me, too, since they also make sense. Sand, sor, ands, ors, land, lor, et cetera, don't immediately make sense to new users, or some users who have not dealt with them. The fewer th...

What's the easiest way to accomplish this?

I have a class encapsulating a Font object that can load and use a FreeType font (TTF, whathaveyou.) The very first time a Font object is created, I want the constructor to automatically initialize FreeType, but never thereafter, and I need a variable of type FT_Library to be available to all instan...

I use the tab key to make indents, but my editor is always configured to insert spaces instead of actual tab characters. When loading in files containing tabs, my editor is also instructed to convert all tabs to exactly three spaces. I've always liked spaces. The disk space argument is relatively mo...

I honestly would just go ahead and iterate through each character, and use the CRT functions isalpha and isdigit to determine which characters are which, and do stuff accordingly.

I, too, would love to know how to call a Lua function from a running FB program. For example, I have an object. It is created by a script, and when the user clicks on the object, I want a Lua routine to run. How is this done?

Hmm, you could write a very simple parsing routine -- basically, you take an input string, and you go through one character at a time. Save each character into a temporary string, and when you hit a space, comma, whatever, push that temporary string you've been saving into an array, clear the tempor...
