Yea I did put windows in it and it took over 5mins to boot up and even then it was unusable.

So would any of the code on this question help me with swapping between two programs? (Would it still work even if day the back office program had not been started up yet)

Boot time is about 1mins 15 seconds.

I have a video of it booting.

So now I should be able to swap between 2 program. Now I’m using a multitasking operating system

Though you all would like to know I have managed to get Debian 8 to install with no problems on the machine and it’s just fully updated itself with all required updates.

So it’s now looks like I’ve offically left DOS behind ;-)

I have left it running over night and it sat on 72% all night

I was going to use Debian with the cli and frame buffer as that works great on my other machines but for some reason it will no install on this one machine.

I have a few ideas to try thanks to a Linux friend I shall report back and let you know what happened

The PoS is not connected to the internet I have tried to install Linux but it stops at 72% with the message configuring apt sources no idea what that means

I did not know windows 7 32bit used less then 2000

The machine I have is a PoSiflex PST-7050 terminal with 512mb ram and a intel celeron 766MHz cpu

Would 7 be ok on that?

I would drop dos but the machines I have will only run dos or windows 98se - 2000.

Can a FreeBASIC application run on 2000 with no errors?
