Re: Where have I gone wrong

@badidea Yes I use MySQL all the time with in the Visual Basic.net version of my EPoS systems. I have managed to get Linux installed on the tills and yes I did even manage to get it to recall some data from a MySQL server. But I never seem to get it to recall the correct data (always seemed to bring...

@grindstone Hi, the tills and server run on either 10MB or 100MB network (depending on the switch that is in place) I have been thinking about using a function that copy data from the Server (to for example c:\PoS\Data) and if the PoS can not see the shared drive on the windows Machine (or linux at ...

Re: Where have I gone wrong

Gablea. So you edit the file from the server? The vbnet udt cannot easily be made into an fb udt. OK for displaying perhaps via a udt, but it is difficult to get the right size returned for re saving with fixed length strings. Even with zstrings, and changing chr(0) to chr(255) and back I was not s...

Re: Where have I gone wrong

Cool. I’ll be spending tonight to see if I can get the system to read the data now.

Just hope I can integrate the code you both have provided into my app to support the new method :)

Wish me luck :)

Re: Where have I gone wrong

... Is it possible to read the data from a network share? Yes, of course it's possible. But you'll have to implement it yourself, since FreeBasic doesn't have it 'out of the box'. You'll need to implement a sort of distributed database , with the data in one place and the consumer(s) in another, an...
