This is going to take a lot of thinking, because neither of those methods are flexible enough, mostly because I am going to have multiple executables communicating bi-directionally and I am already using the pipe method for something else (Getting a window handle so I can use XReparentWindow) I migh...

I tried loading the executable like any other lib with DyLibLoad but it just returns 0, and calling the function causes a segfault :( Edit: Realy what I would like is to have a dynamic library in its own adress space, so that multiple executables can communicate through it (At the moment if the both...

Meh, its not ideal but at least it works... ' test.bas Function AMessage CDECL Alias "AMessage" () As String Return "A Message" End Function Dim tmp As Any Ptr Dim As Function(ByRef As Function As String) As String Hello tmp = DyLibLoad("dll.dylib"&#...

Apparently passing 0 as the handle for a dynamic library will get a function from the parent executable (Someone on the forum told me this A while back im sure and I have read it else where)

Annoying DyLib(0, ...) Seg fault

Why does this not work, I'm sure I had it working on windows A while back... ' test.bas Function AMessage CDECL Alias "AMessage" () As String Return "A Message" End Function Dim tmp As Any Ptr Dim As Function() As String Hello tmp = DyLibLoad("dll.dylib&q...

I think I fixed it, it was to do with the program I was running, not the way I was running it. In the program I was running I wanted to get the window handle, but because I had used ScreenRes I couldn't use print, so I used: Dim hndl As Integer = FreeFile Dim wind As Integer Open Cons For Output As ...

While we are all still here why is it that when I do:

Code: Select all

Open Pipe program & " &" For Input As #hndl

The program still blocks execution of my program?

P.S. It blocks at the first input statement, not at open.

Yay! I fixed it!

If I use open pipe in ReadLi (Don't ask why I called it that I wrote the function a long time ago lol) And then pass "cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/status" It works!

Why this no work: Can't help without error message. (I guess the OPEN statement returns an error because the file doesn't exist.) And how can I capture the output from this: Use ' > ' as in your second code block ' INSTEED OF ' Shell("iwconfig wlan0|grep Signal|cut -d""="&qu...

Interesting language. I couldn't stop loling at this from wikipedia tho:
it is 1.5 times more memory hungry than the previous example, requiring 3 bytes of memory

How to do something like screenlock in xlib

What I relay need to know is how to stop X from redrawing the window until I am done drawing in it (I am not using gfxlib). I have a problem where I wan't to update the screen whenever I want, but if I just do something like this Do Draw Some Stuff Here... Do some other stuff here... Sleep 1,1 Loop ...

Well I think sir_mud is right, because on systems that support the framebuffer it will use that instead of the running X session and that breaks everything (even on my spare computer running fluxbox as a WM it will still use the framebuffer instead). The system I am running it in is using a VESA dri...
