Re: "A Love Letter To FreeBASIC" Game Dev Competition (Oct 2018 – Feb 2019), 1000 $ 1st prize

@Pitto: Awesome entry! Really like the C64 style graphics and the funny posters! :) @Maachal: Great fun game! I like the presentation, are you able to add a little sound? I think some simple bleeps and bloops would really add to it! @ Landeel: The youtube vid of your game looks great but my pc lacks...

Hi, i replaced my mouse with a Logitech Trackman Wheel a few years ago when i started to get concerned about RSI/CTS. It reduces wrist movement to nothing as your thumb does all the work. I would definitely recommend one. I would not get one of the 'centre ball' track balls as they seem to require m...

Great game ChangeV! I like the cut scenes and graphics, trying to get the longest chain is fun!

Wow, if Conexions entry plays as good as it looks then i think he's probably won this comp!

In case people don't venture over to the FBGD site, my entry is a racer and here's the link:

I've been putting update notices at the fbgd site.

That's very cool! Are you planning on using this in a game or anything?

I've taken the lazy approach to 3d and am just using opengl to do all the hard work!

Btw, what are the DBF/GVY forums? I don't recognise the acronyms...

Very good issue again! I thought anonymous1337 clone game article was very good. It's pretty much how i do any game, just take away the graphics and break it down to its most basic. Once the core elements of control, collision and map drawing are sorted, you have the basics of pretty much any game. ...

Wow, did not expect to see any of my programs in there! Thanks!

Just a note though that the 'chuckie egg returns' description is a little off, A&F are the company that released the original chuckie egg game way back (1986 ish?).

Very good issue with lots to read through...

It looks like the image height is too small, if you increase it to 12 (or more) the text fits.

Chuckie Egg Returns (0.3)

Hi, I posted this in the FBGD forums here: http://games.freebasic.net/forum/index.php?topic=44.0 but in case people don't visit there i thought i would post it here too! This game started as a simple scrolling test but grew. It is based on the classic chuckie egg game where you have to collect eggs ...

I'm not going to bother quibbling about my score as i agree with most of it (lacking depth etc...), but i notice there is very little between the bottom scores! All i needed was 4 points and i would have shot up the board! :)

I look forward to the next comp!

Here are my scores, i was just going to send them to ciw but thought i may as well put them here: Orb (15pts) + Manic and original! (great 3rd level got it the top spot) - Controls bit fiddly.. Final Invader (13pts) + Great cut scenes + Excellent 2nd stage! (would have got the same place if it was j...

I think i was seeing the long comp as more of just an extension rather than as seperate comp with it own requirements.

Anyway, whatever's decided, i'm sure i will put something together to enter to one or both! :)
