Re: Missing files in 64-bit install script and how it could be resolved

after step 3 3. Install the 32-bit version first with sudo ./install.sh -i you can rename fbc in the installed folder to fbc32 after step 4 4. Install the 64-bit version directly afterwards, again with sudo ./install.sh -i optional you can rename fbc in the installed folder to fbc64 so you can buil...

Missing files in 64-bit install script and how it could be resolved

Some days ago I installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and decided to try the 64-bit version of the operating system (instead of the 32-bit version I was using until now). Therefore I had to try the 64-bit FreeBasic compiler version for the first time as well and I recognized that the install script is missing ...

Re: GladeToBac compilation problems

For your info: I am on Ubuntu Linux 16.04 LTS 32-bit + gtk 3.18.9 + glade 3.18.3 + FreeBasic fbc 1.05.0 32-bit. Here's the proof with an error-free compile: haegar@fakse:~/Downloads/source/GladeToBac3.2/src$ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 16.0...

Re: GladeToBac compilation problems

Hello Pete, I have no clue what's going wrong on your side. Just tried to compile the source on my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS box (in my first answer I used Ubuntu 12.04 LTS) and it works perfectly after having applied the changes I mentioned earlier. Did you change anything else in the source? Maybe you shou...

Re: GladeToBac compilation problems

Good evening, the code is not fully compatible with FreeBasic 1.05. Change this in the main module GladeToBac.bas: #IF DEFINED(__FB_WIN32__) '<======= change '#LIBPATH "C:/opt/Gtk+" ' place path to your GTK-dev here #LIBPATH "C:/opt/GTK-2.24.0/lib" #DEFINE SLASH "\" #DE...

Re: Need help on Linux codepage/charset

Hi Marc, here's the output of your modified code: setlocale(LC_CTYPE, 0) = en_US.UTF-8 setlocale(LC_CTYPE, "") = en_US.UTF-8 Modified Locale = ru_RU.iso-8859-5 Restored Locale = en_US.UTF-8 press key to finish Just to mention: you can modify the locale in your program, but the target local...

Re: Need help on Linux codepage/charset

Hi Marpon,

here's the output of your code under Ubuntu Linux:

    setlocale(LC_CTYPE, 0) = de_DE.UTF-8

    setlocale(LC_CTYPE, ") = de_DE.UTF-8

    setlocale(LC_CTYPE, 0) = de_DE.UTF-8

    press key to finish

And yes, as far as I know the code page is always UTF-8 in Linux OS.

Re: Error in LEN() command

Did you try your example? dim a as string dim b as wstring * 100 a = "你好,世界!Märchenkönigsgrüße Rødgrød med fløde" b = "你好,世界!" print a print b print LEN(a) print LEN(b) LEN() for wstring does not work! The result of your example is: 你好,世界!Märchenkönigsgrüße Rødgrød med fløde 61 0...

Re: Error in LEN() command

Did you read anything of what any of us wrote? There's nothing wrong with FreeBASIC. The problem is your understanding of unicode combined with FB's lack of support for unicode. Your example file has no unicode in it, at least from FB's point of view. On Linux, your source code is UTF-8, and those ...

Re: Error in LEN() command

However, what I do not understand is: why are the forum users MrSwiss and FreeFox getting the correct results? As they stated, they saved the source code as UTF-8 (like me) and they are using FBC 1.05 (like me). And: I just tested with the old QB45 DOS compiler and it gives me the correct string len...

Re: Error in LEN() command

After having tried it under different Operating systems (Linux, Windows XP/7/10) and FBC compiler versions 1.05 and 0.23 on different PC's I can confirm that I always get the wrong lengths: Length German string: 22 (wrong) instead of 18 (right) Length of Danish string: 20 (wrong) instead of 17 (righ...

Error in LEN() command

Hello together, I do not know if someone is already aware of an error in the LEN() command in FreeBasic? If you use strings with international characters (like German umlauts or French accents) you get wrong results with the LEN() command. Just to show it, I have created a small test program: ' Shor...

Re: Charts with FreeBasic and libploticus

Hi asif, sorry, but I can't do that at the moment, because I don't have the environment installed on my current Windows system and I don't have enough time. But, you can do it yourself by changing the following in the Makefile: ... ####################################################################...
