Re: Windows update - FBide no longer works
I actually did all that before I wrote the post but none of that worked for me.

Re: Windows update - FBide no longer works
Indeed, your problem may not be solved: OK. I found out the DLL I downloaded was identical to the old one that was there and that has been working. I'm not sure why and how it worked since it didn't previously. However I followed the same procedure as you and reinstalled it so I now have the identi...

Re: Windows update - FBide no longer works
Thanks for this. I did replace the dll with a file from dlldll.com since I could not sort out the mingw website. I found versions that looked like they wanted to install companion software so I looked elsewhere. It didn't work - same message. I did not also install the Visual C++ lib (oh geez, where...

Windows update - FBide no longer works
Microsoft auto-updated my computer with "2023-08 Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057)" on 9/5/2023. Today, I rebooted my computer for the first time since then and found that FBide no longer works due to "...the application was unable to start correctly...

Re: Is &H a compile time literal?
I'm not in agreement. A variable has a value that can vary during the course of execution of a program. A Literal cannot and its value is determined during compilation.

Re: Is &H a compile time literal?
I suppose we can dispute the meaning of a "literal". The fact that &H, a prefix, can have a variable attached to it (i.e. a value that is not fixed at compile time) makes it not a literal but a variable - unless the new definition for literal is something other than what I've known for...

Re: Is &H a compile time literal?
Seems to me it is, or it isn't. Your explanation states that it could sometimes be a Literal and sometimes not. This applies not just to &H but to all of the prefixes. Perhaps they should be called that: Prefixes or Type Prefixes.

Is &H a compile time literal?
In the alphabetic documentation index and linked documentation on "Literals", the &H spec is defined as a "literal" which is further defined as a compile time only value. The implication I assume is &H.. cannot be used as a variable. However, &H can be combined with a...

Re: A defeated man
I'm not sure I would store these on the Desktop either. It's too easy for an errant swipe to pick up a folder and dump it in the trash or otherwise "lose" it in some obscure location. Perhaps something like c:/Freebasic or Home/Freebasic or .... just not in any Windows directory including ...

Re: Print vs Print #2, results with TAB different
Umm ... maybe not. My reading of CHANGELOG.TXT assumed all entries pertained to version 10. Not so. A past entry that referenced PRINT TAB looked like a fix was from a much older version.

Re: Print vs Print #2, results with TAB different
Apparently, this was resolved by version 10.
I never looked at the changelogs before but I'd certainly like to see the keycaps on the keyboards of the folks who work on this stuff. The letters just have to be gone. Amazing work.
