Now, I know I'm a fresh face on the FB forums but, years ago, back in good old QB45, and with help from the Future Graphics Library (I'm sure alot of you remember that *grin*), I got quite some way through a scriptable RPG engine.

It features fully customizable graphics, maps, and the scripting allows for diverse plots.

I lost this project *sigh*, but recently i found it once more, on a 3.5" Floppy disk!

It was never released to the public, mainly because I never finished it. But now after all these years, i finally started to dust the cobwebs off.

So I've spent the last 48 hours converting it to work in FB.

Its not done yet, but its well on the way.

You can download a demonstration here:-

Hope ya'll enjoy.
All comments/critisisms welcome.

Pretty cool, very scripted too.

I guess it was painful to make the conversion ;). What lib are [you] using for graphics now? There was a flib-to-fbgfxlib wrapper written by VonGodric, but it was never finished, if i remember.

Hey, this is a well-done engine :) Those script files are pretty cool.

You mind if I put it up for download on the crappy new qb45?

Yes, the conversion was painful, mainly because the code was so old, and I hadn't commented it very well at all :)
The engine is now using standard GET, PUT and PSET from fbgfxlib. And I had to add a frame limiter :D otherwise I was getting about 800fps. FB truely is impressive.

I don't mind at all. Perhaps I should include the RPGine Script Reference also?

Oh yes, before I forget, on the Eastern outdoor map, with the girl in the green dress, if you press "o", it should run a 'tempscript' that activates a battle between you and her. I've no where near completed the battle engine, but it should give some idea of where that is headed. Mind you, I may change it alltogether.

And also, there is a secret character hiding in the woods somewhere, can you find her? :)

Sweet. Nice scripting and cute graphic. Would be great fun to see the full version when it's done.

A script reference would definately be cool :) If you go to http://qb45.com you can register and submit it yourself, or just send it to spam _AT_ betterwebber DOTTO com

Yes, the renewed qb45.com doesn't work for me. Maybe it blocks some specific IPs?

It seems to block some European IPs. Fling's been emailing his provider about it, and it really is irritating.

In the meantime, you can use a redirection tool such as the-cloak.com and anonymouse.org to get there. I really wish I could say why it happens.

If you email the stuff to spam at betterwebber dot com , I'll put it up for you.
