I want to show you a very old project called "X-the forgotten battles". I started this project 3 years ago with the programming language "BlitzBasic 3D". 2 years ago I turned to FreeBasic, because FB works on Linux too. I am using "OpenB3D" for the 3D-World.

X-tfb is a 3D-Space RPG which takes place in the X-Universe of Egosoft. Your task in this game is to fight against an enemy machine race called "Xenon", which is about to destroy the Community of Planets. The story is only a little part of the whole game. You can explore a huge universe with many different alien races. You can buy over 50 different ships, for example a little fighter or a huge destroyer. You can build your own space stations and so you are creating your own economic empire. You can buy many different weapons and other tools and you can improve your spaceship, so it will be faster for example.

1. Screenshot: A big planet and its moon
2. Screenshot: 2 spaceships. A M3-fighter and a TS-transport ship
3. Screenshot: You can jump to other sun systems through these jumpgates. These gates were built by an ancient alien race. In the background you can see a spacestation, where you can buy and sell products or search for quests and new ships.
4. Screenshot: The UI. Here you can find many informations about your ship, about the known galaxy or abour your personal statistics. In this case, it shows the map of the current sunsystem.
5. Screenshot: The HUD and the cockpit. The cockpit does look like $%#@, i know. I will change this soon.
6. Screenshot: The new cockpit.

I am not finished yet, but I uploaded a Pre-Alpha:

It runs fine under Linux, but I need someone, who can compile it for Windows.
Please read the ReadMe.txt, it tells how to install the needed libraries and how to play the game.
There might be a few mistakes in the language, please tell me when you found some, so I can fix them.

I puplished the code under the terms of the WTFPL, but all names and objects of the X-Universe are copyrighted by Egosoft.

I was following this for a while. Really excited to hear that an alpha demo is coming out soon.

I'm glad to hear that. It means that all the time I spent working on OpenB3D fork was not in vain ;-)

I am searching for somebody, who can make me a new cockpit, because when i make 3ds models with wings3d, the UV-coordinates are wrong.

EDIT: I made a new cockpit on my own. You can see a screenshot of the new one in my first post.

Well, the X-universe and all names are copyright by Egosoft, but i will publish the source code under the terms of the WTFPL. ;)

I'll see what I can do to compile for windows.

Edit: There were a couple of lines that needed to be added for this to compile under windows, but now the linker is looking for X11 libraries... I don't see anything linking to it, so I don't know why that would be. Sorry, Lachie.
