I don't think explaining what or where foo, bar etc. come from will make the examples clearer because they are used because they have no meaning and that is the problem some people have with the examples. But as others have said, it's just a wiki so you can update it if you want. If anyone is actual...

I thought I could write a game from scratch in a day... I was wrong. :/

I'll finish and post my entry in a few day's time. Ah well... too late for this compo. Maybe I'll be ready for the next one.

I've been away from the FB community for quite a while and I come back (on Friday) to a cool compo, but only a few days left. Arrrgh! Well I'll see if I can shoe-horn a game out in the few hours I've got left. I've only been coding this since today. And will probably be coding after work tomorrow to...

I've been coding in VBA all week in work, and was stuck in that mind-set. VBA reports an out of bounds (out of range) in the Err object. And I wanted to catch it like that in my FB code. Like I said before, I was just being lazy and thought I stumbled across a bug. :)

you are going out of array bounds. compiler with -exx option to set warnings. Ya think! :P I didn't think that the index var would be changed, even going out of bounds. FB doesn't have to work or break if you go out of bounds That is a fair point. I know what is happening now anyway. Going out of b...

Array index bug?

Using FBC v0.17 (03-11-2007) for win32 Using a variable to access an array, the variable will bet set to 0 if it's 1 greater than the upper bound of the array. The following will loop for ever Dim bar As Integer Dim foo(1) As Integer For bar = 0 To 2 Print bar foo(bar) = 0 Next bar ...

I know that I could OR emums together in the definition. But when you have code that adds different enums together at run-time and you have 15 different flags to set, with any possible combination of flags, you don't want to enumerate all possible combinations. My statistical maths might be a bit ru...

Hi, I also want to ask to the developers why enums aren't so type safe. For instance: Enum bar a = 0 b = 1 c = 2 end enum dim foo as bar foo = 5000 print foo Sleep The code above does compile (because enum types are integer-like). But I think it would be better if FB would be like c++ in the aspect...

Umm... I'm not entirely sure what your after but if you try this it will give you 9 shades of blue from a very dark blue to pure blue . DIM AS INTEGER Blue(8) For i = 0 to 8 Blue(i) = RGB(0,0,CINT((255/9)*(i+1))) Next Color Blue(4) PRINT "...
